Chapter 1: Discovering Rune Magic

Arin lived in the small town of Millfield in the country of Aurora. He is 14 years old and the middle child in his family. His father, Jack, was the captain of the town guard and his mother, Lila, owned a tavern called "The Phoenix's Flames."

It's a popular spot for travelers, adventurers, and magic users alike, known for its warm and welcoming atmosphere, delicious food and drinks, and magical touches like flaming desserts and drinks that change colors. The name of the tavern reflects Lila's love for magic and her passion for creating an unforgettable experience for her guests.

His older sister, Sam, was in her third year at the magical academy in the capital city and is a proficient Wind Magic user, while his younger brother, Peter, was a prodigy at Fire Magic and was set to start at the academy this year. Arin was the only one in his family who couldn't use magic.

One day, Arin was exploring some ancient ruins near Millfield. He had always loved going on adventures, and this place was one of his favorite spots. He was exploring a hidden room when he saw something glimmering in the corner. When he approached, he saw a strange marking on the wall that he had never seen before. As he reached out to touch it, he felt a rush of energy, and the wall crumbled to reveal a secret chamber. In the center of the room was a book with strange runes covering its cover.

As he looked at the book, he noticed that one of the runes was glowing. Without thinking, he reached out and touched it, and the room filled with light. When the light faded, Arin was holding the book in his hands. He was puzzled, as he had never seen anything like this before. He opened the book and saw that it was full of strange markings and runes. He realized that this was a book on magic.

Arin was shocked. He had always believed that he couldn't use magic, but now he was holding a book on it. He decided to try to use the magic in the book. He focused on the glowing rune and activated it, and suddenly, he felt a surge of energy. When he opened his eyes, he saw that he was holding a ball of earth in his hand. He had created it with just a thought. He noticed he could condense it into small projectiles and then shoot them with his newfound magic.

He looked up the rune in the book to see what it is and after a while he found out it was called Earth Manipulation : Stone Bullet the rune looked like a diamond with moss growing off the top. When he drew the rune on his hand he was able to active it and use the magic imbued within the rune.

Arin was amazed. He had discovered that he could use magic. He quickly hid the book and ran home to show his family. They were shocked to see that Arin could use magic, and they were even more shocked when they saw what kind of magic he could use. Arin's father, Jack, was the most surprised. He had always been a fire magic user and had never heard of anyone in their family who could use earth magic.

Arin's family was overjoyed that Arin had discovered that he could use magic. They were proud of him and were eager to see what else he could do. Arin spent the rest of the day practicing with the book. By the end of the day, he had discovered that he could use earth manipulation to create projectiles and fire them with a thought.

The next day, Arin was eager to show his sister, Sam, what he could do. She was a wind magic user and was the only one in the family who could offer Arin any guidance. She challenged Arin to a friendly duel, and he accepted.

At the start of the duel Arin started out by sending several stone bullets towards his sister. She smirked and waved her hand in-front of her creating a wind barrier which neutralized Arin's projectiles. She then sent several gusts of wind towards Arin and then began to close the gap at an inhuman pace. She used wind magic under her feet to accelerate her speed. When she got within melee distance she attempted to swing down with a blade of air.

Arin dove out of the way and when he did he noticed a rune on his sisters feet whenever she used the wind to accelerate her around so he attempted to trip her up by shooting stone bullets at her feet in a gambit to slow her enough to get a better look at it.

Arin was able to trip her up enough for her to take a tumble near him he then reached out his hand to touch the rune. When he did he felt like a gust of wind attached itself to his core. He then jumped back to gain distance he looked at his hand and attempted to use the new rune. he was able to make a small blade of air in his palm.

Staring at her brother Sam was in awe when she saw him conjure a blade of air in his hand. Leaving her speechless and dumbfounded she yelled out " You can use Wind Magic too!"

He was amazed when he wrote the rune on his other hand he was able to create blades of wind. He was able to either hold the blade of air in his hand like a sword or send it flying towards what ever he wanted and it would slice like a sword through it.

With the new rune in tow Arin shifted his attention back to his sister and with a big smile he responded " I guess so let's see how this works"

He began shooting stone bullets towards his sister who was doing everything she can to deflect them with a wind barrier.

She noticed her brother holding a Wind Blade in his other hand and swung at the barrier in-front of her. It instantly broke and with that Sam was at her younger brothers mercy and she lost the duel

Sam was impressed by Arin's ability to use both earth and wind magic. She offered to help Arin learn more about magic and to prepare him for the magical academy. Arin was grateful, and he accepted her offer. From that day on, Arin and Sam spent every day for the next month training him so he was able to use both types of magic with ease.
