*Boooom!*
"What!?" I woke, startled.
"What the hell was that?" I murmured to myself groggily. Looking around and... wait. Where am I?
I'm on a hill. Next to the coast? Are those old style ships? What is this Pirates of the Caribbean?
*Booom* *Boooooom*
I watch cannons shoot at the little town on the coast in the distance. Are those screams I can hear over there? Surely I am too far away for that.
I try to stand... but my legs cannot seem to move. What the hell!? Are they asleep? Hitting my legs with my fist doesn't help either....
Wait.
Hitting my legs with my fist... I cannot feel anything.
I am not panicking, you're panicking. Stop that.
All I can do is sit and watch the devastation occur in the distance.
WHAT. THE. HELL.
In the distance, I see a person on the shore throwing rocks at those ships. Wait, did I say rocks? I meant mountains. They're basically mountains. Big boulders. Does it really matter?
He has sunk three ships in just a few minutes. I see from one of the remaining four ships a vague figure of a person appears in the sky above.
Am I dizzy?
No, that isn't me, the whole area in front of the floating person seems to be distorting, bending, warping, twirling. Picasso, is that you?
The distortion wave hits the guy on the shore; he is thrown backwards through the town behind him and I hear and see buildings collapsing in his flight path. Is it a he? I'm assuming, it's hard to tell.
I sure am sweating a lot today.
"Nick! Nick!"
I twist my waist with my arms like I am wanting to crack my back to see behind me where all the shouting is coming from. Oh, she's beautiful... oh wait, that's a boy. Almost tricked me. Where am I again?
"Nick!" the trap called my name another time as they finish running up to me, panting. "I need to get you someplace safe! The town is being attacked by the Vibrato Pirates! Dad will kill me if I let anything happen to you!"
He grabs my arms and waist with practiced ease, lifting me in one fluid motion onto his back. Subconsciously, my arms tighten my arms around him. I trust him.
No. I don't trust him. This body trusts him? Nick isn't my name. Is it? Wait, what is my name?
Suddenly my head is in a lot of pain. I am probably dying. This means I'll wake up from this dream now, right? Oh! I've blacked out. See you next time on ...

I wake up. I'm on something softer this time. It's a bed!
The door to this bedroom opens.
"Nick, you awake now?" The trap master enters the room. No, I won't call him trap anymore, he's .... my brother.
"Yeah Ben. Thanks for carrying me all the way home like that. Can you tell me what happened with the attack? How's the city? Where's dad?" I ask, using the memories I gained from this body. I also remember my past life.
"The pirates were swift and very destructive. Most of the town was destroyed. Surprisingly, no one is dead. Considering the scale of the attack though, that is a downright miracle. Dad's giving a detailed report to the marines." he spoke very succinctly.
"And? Why did they attack. Everyone knows this town is a refuge for the destitute. There was nothing for them to gain for this." I wondered
Ben sighed. He hands me the newspaper.
*PIRATE KING GOLD ROGER, EXECUTED*
Seeing the title is enough. I know now for certain what I had only suspected before. This is One Piece.
"So this is some kind of revenge?! Pirates are just wantonly attacking for no reason now?" I nearly shouted, I was so angry.
"You're a kid Nick. You don't get it. The marines needed to execute Roger, as a show of strength. Pirates like the Vibrato crew just want the world to not believe in the strength of the marines. Although I called it a miracle earlier, the fact that there were no deaths is actually very likely a show of strength from them. Showing the world, particular citizens like us, that they still have a lot of power. If they can prevent the propaganda that would cause the Marine's numbers to swell, it only helps them. Helps them keep their lives longer." Ben spoke very firmly. "Though that isn't likely to work with all candidates, such myself."
"Yourself?" I am confused. "Wait, you aren't joining the Marines are you?" Not good, I like Ben as as far as older brothers go. Of course, that's only because I have been recently re-acquainted with my memories of both worlds. But people in the marines are, in many ways, just as bad as pirates.
"I wasn't - I mean, yes I am but it's not like I plan to stay a marine." Ben said with what sounded like some uncertainty in his voice. "The marines do not require a life long commitment. My plan was to try and prove myself, get training on being a sailor - hopefully, some elite training. After a few years I could leave the marines."
"That's-" uhhhh, actually smart. But I can't really tell him that.
Loud foot steps can be heard coming over which distract us. "Ben, Nick! Where you two at?" I can hear our dad saying loudly.
"Here!" we said together. I better jinx him for a soda.
A gigantic guy came into the room. Hagrid, is this you? I'm a wizard, Ben! Uhhh back to reality.
"You kiddos doin alright? That would have been a heck of a show to witness from over here I bet." My half-giant father asks. Wait. Not half giant. Why are my thoughts all over the place?
"That was you fighting the pirates, right!? I never knew you were so strong!" Ben was so excited. Why does he want to be strong? I bet most regular folk live peaceful and happy lives just fine without the need to go and become a marine or a pirate or anything like that.
"YAHAHAHAHAH This old man still has some fight." He seems pleased with himself. Is this a narcissist? "Those pirates were helluva fight though. I really am getting old. I need to retire soon." What a sad little puppy.
"Dad." Ben was suddenly so serious. "Please train me!"
"No!"
Put down quickly. Nice! I mean... uhhh Sorry Ben!
Honestly, just winging this story without much thought.
