Chapter 72: Truth

Mim was there in a flash, but the damage was done. Megan told him about Mim calling emergency services. At the hospital the doctor tried to stop the labor.

Elias was born and she had gotten to see him and touch his head for just a second before the NICU team whisked him away. She had been hemorrhaging internally and had been put under for surgery to save her life.

Megan had been afraid to risk the lives of her family or her friends, so she had told them not to call anyone. She told him she had woken after surgery to Elias's doctor telling her he would die without heart surgery, so she had agreed. The doctor came back later telling her that it hadn't been enough, and her son was on life support, dying slowly, and suffering. That he had no chance of recovery.

Megan glanced at Gabriel to find that tears were steadily running down his face and he looked devastated.
