Chapter 83: Dark Queen

Megan's steps faltered to a stop as she saw the scene in front of her. She was standing on a cliff-top at least three-hundred feet above a barren valley floor. Directly in front of her was a long bridge across an inky black river that was still as a mirror. On the other side of the bridge was a medieval stone castle with flames shooting into the sky from four turrets.

Across the empty brown valley to the left was a tall mountain that occasionally shot red sparks into the sky as a line of lava ran down the side toward a dark abyss. A red light glowed behind the mountain peak and crossed the sky. To the right across the valley were banks of storm clouds and a constant barrage of lightning. The scene was dark like a wall of torrential rain ran under the thunderstorm.

Sam stopped and watched as Megan took everything in. He turned to her running his hands over her arms.
