Nick walks out of the washroom feeling much better now that he’s had a warm bath. The others are still sleeping, he had told them he would sit up with Tris so they could rest. Lucas and Ginger had refused to leave the chamber. Instead, the two of them curled up on the couch together.
It’s been two days since they made it back to the Isle. He had awoken yesterday and been informed of what happened. His grandfather suspects poisoning, but Nick can’t imagine where they could have come in contact with something so lethal. He feels helpless, and can’t even ask Tris since hasn’t shown much improvement since collapsing by his side.
“She’s a human,” the nurse explained when he asked why. “You have dragon blood in you that offers more protection.”
Nick wanted to give up upon receiving such news. Instead, Dom had convinced him to stay strong for Tris.
“She isn’t a weakling,” Dom muttered to him. “Have more faith in her.”
