What Todo had yelled, actually relieved me slightly.
"In his current state, my brother is in no condition to fight me, sensei Utahime."
Not knowing whether to be offended or grateful, I silently waited for Utahime's response.
"Well then, who else would you suggest?"
Todo animatedly pointed at Kamo, who jumped slightly when he was pointed at.
"Kamo would make the perfect training dum-partner for my brother."
Kamo looked slightly annoyed that Todo had chosen him, and looked pleadingly towards Utahime. Utahime simply sighed.
"Whatever, Todo. Kamo you go against Jikan, don't use any lethal techniques. We do not have a Reverse Curse Technique User on standby. First one knocked out losses."
'What a vindictive little bitch'.
The blonde hair girl looked a little concerned and almost questioned what Utahime was doing. But, after looking at her fellow students, she forgot that idea.
Did she really think I would lose that horribly? Probably. No, I most certainly would.
Utahime proceeded to walk us towards an empty training field, where I would get my face pummeled in at for the foreseeable future.
Kamo stood across from me, clearly distressed he would be beating the shit out of the new kid.
"No hard feelings?" He said pleadingly to me.
"Yeah, that would be for the best." I replied.
The moment I finished my sentence, we both ran at each other. Weaving under my poorly timed punch, Kamo was now inside my no existent guard. Before I could react, a powerful uppercut delivered itself to my chin.
Stumbling backwards, I wildly flung my arms at Kamo, in a desperate bid to make him back off.
Weaving around my punches, Kamo was at me again. And this time, he was planning to end our 'bout'. Sweeping my legs out from under me, I was laid out flat against the ground.
Two devastating blows delivered themselves unto my nose, breaking it. Blow after blow was delivered unto my face, until I decided enough was enough.
Binding vows made with oneself have practically zero consequence if broken, at worst you would lose what you gained. But if you said you would do (insert binding vow) permanently, not so much.
Luckily, I did not say permanently.
Touching my torso, I used reemergence to rewind time to the beginning of my 'spar' with Kamo. Totaling roughly 15 or so seconds. Barely taking up any of my 'gas'.
"No hard feelings?" Kamo said pleadingly.
"Sure."
Mimicking our first bout, we both ran towards each other. Although this time, I don't throw out my sloppy punch.
Instead, I threw out a mediocre punch.
Kamo, raising his hand to grab my first, managed to do a weird sort of spin thing to manipulate the force of my punch into returning to its owner.
Stumbling in place, Kamo sent forth a flurry of blows directly into my chest. Coughing up blood, I staggered backwards put up a flimsy guard.
Remembering Kamo had previously knocked me off my feet, I attempted to put myself in a stronger foot work.
Kamo, visibly disturbed by my rapidly improving form, or so I think, charged at me again. Putting more focus into my guard, I watched Kamo's movements closely.
Suddenly, my arms were wrapped in… blood?! And not just any blood, but my own that I had previously spit out.
With my arms unable to block or do combat, I spat out even more blood and saliva after Kamo had sucker punched me in the gut.
And soon more and more punches found their way to my face, nearly knocking me out cold. But, nearly was equivalent to zero with me.
Activating my cursed technique for the second time, I was once again across from Kamo. This time, I had managed to last 15 whole seconds. Rather than the previous 10.
"No hard feelings?" Kamo pleadingly said.
"Same to you."
Rushing at each other, instead of a sloppy or mediocre punch, I threw out a half decent punch. The improvement was 'astounding'.
Catching my punch with one hand again, Kamo did not manage to reflect it as I was already prepared. Can't deflect my punch and block a kick at the same time can you?
Nimbly moving out of my attack's range, Kamo stood back for a moment to observe my guard and stance, analyzing it for any weaknesses.
Not letting him do so, I ran forward at him and prepared to attack. Kamo raised his arms in reflex, because I was a clear amateur he would never expect what came next.
And also, this move was just plain crazy.
Diving on the ground, I used my body like a bowling ball to knock Kamo off his feet. As I collided with Kamo, all of my momentum transferred to him. Sending him propelling into the ground.
With all of my momentum now transferred to Kamo, I easily got back up and began to do what he had done to me twice before. I sent a flurry of punches directly into his face.
Purposefully coughing up a mouthful of blood, knowing what would happen next, I managed to retreat in time to dodge the blood hammer flying at my chest.
The blood soon lost its shape, waiting for another order from Kamo. Circling around Kamo, I fixed the weaknesses in my posture at a rapid pace.
Kamo, not wanting to let me improve any further, made 4 small blood needles that shot forward at each of my limbs.
Feeling my limbs get pierced by a sharp needle was not very fun, so the moment it happened, I used my cursed technique to back 7 seconds ago before he coughed out blood.
Kamo was now back on the ground, trying his hardest to cough out blood. I decided to end our fight in one decisive blow, so he couldn't cough out blood and use his cursed technique to have a major upper hand.
Stopping my flurry of blows for just a moment, first I stomped down with all my might, disorienting Kamo. Secondly, I mimicked my bowling ball move from earlier, but instead I jumped on top of his head.
With my full body weight crashing down on Kamo, he was even more disoriented than before. Probably seeing birds fly in his vision.
And for my third and most decisive move, I put both my hands into a ball and jumped into the air, slamming him right in the temple with my 'Sledgehammer Air jump'.
Kamo began to foam from the mouth cartoonishly, all while being horrifying because it was real life.
On my third attempt, I had won. Albeit by Kamo's arrogance in him underestimating me. Another factor that led to my victory was what I assume is my immense talent. Not to toot my own horn here, but I could easily beat 'Pre-Kamo' me right now.
Actually, was it really arrogance if he had won against me the first two times? Actually, three times. This was technically my fourth attempt.
Well, nobody has to know that do they?
Dusting myself off, I looked to the crowd. Expecting to hear applause, I was met by the blank stares of everyone. Excluding Mechamuru and Todo. Mechamuru really couldn't have an expression, and Todo was Todo. He had a 'as expected from my brother' look on his face.
After a couple seconds of blank staring, Utahime coughed very loudly. As if she needed to get her own attention as well.
"…Congrats for your… victory, Jikan." Utahime struggled to get it out of her throat. Sounding like she might choke mid way through.
The black haired girl was the next to speak, slightly giggling, "Kamo had it coming." Glancing at Kamo's prone body, she spit on his shirt.
Todo commented something that brought fear into me, "I'm next." All the while a manic grin on his face.
Following the trend of commenting on the fight was Miwa, "Wow… you're pretty strong." Mumbling something about 'Useless Miwa back at it again'.
Eventually everyone said their piece, all except for Mechamuru, with the whole school looking at him, he finally mustered something, "I'm not commenting."
Classic Mechamuru.
