Chapter 46: Foreigners

The next few days passed on without any hiccups.

Shuichi created the special grade tool that the jujutsu higher ups had requested him for, gaining a good amount of money from them.

The special grade tool he provided them with was a pair of nun chuks, which the imbued power of 'striking 5 times harder' than the original strength.

Shuichi refrained from naming the tool, as that would elevate it's power by another degree.

Anyway, after Shuichi gave the higher ups the tool, he was invited by Yaga to the Jujutsu high school campus; supposedly for a matter of 'extreme importance'.

And so, there he was. At the moment, Shuichi stood leisurely in front of the main school gate. He had climbed up the stairs and was waiting to enter the building.

While waiting, he took a closer look at the set of barrier that surrounded it.

Interesting. That was the only thing he could say about the barriers that surrounded the campus.

Layers upon layers of barriers, numbering in the thousands... they range from negativity repulsion, protection charms, alarms, suppression barriers, and many more that have been layered countless times.

Looking at the entire structure of cursed energy above and beyond the campus, he was stoked.

The extreme network of cursed energy extended to beyond what the eyes could see, disappearing into an alternate space or dimension.

Maybe the Six Eyes would be able to see more. He thought. In the first place, he was not using his own senses, as they would normally be too weak to detect the barriers, considering the tremendous amount of hidden veils that were stacked up.

Instead, he was analyzing the entire thing with Records of Tenjin and transmitting it directly to the association areas of his brain.

Well... more information for me. Shaking his head, he left the necklace in overdrive, wanting to completely analyze the barriers before going back.

Walking over to the main building of the campus.

Without paying any mind, he entered without care.

While inside, he quickly followed the familiar cursed energy signature of Masamichi Yaga.

"They should really arrange for some attendants here. Someone with worse off energy sense could easily wander around for a hour..." He muttered to himself.

Reaching an inconspicuous door, he opened it in one motion.

Inside Masamichi Yaga was sitting on a sofa in front of a table. The table had a simple tea set, with Yaga holding a cup himself.

"Good evening Shuichi. Please, come inside." Yaga said tersly.

Closing the door behind him, Shuichi took a seat at the opposite sofa. Yaga poured tea into the second cup and extended it to him.

Taking a sip, he spoke "What was it that you wanted to talk about?"

"Tell me, Shuichi, what do you think of the jujutsu community?"

"Jujutsu Community?" He scratched his chin. "It's a necessity."

"Necessity?"

"Necessity. The jujutsu society is rotten. It's filled to the brim with corruption and treachery. In this world, the only thing that matters is the weight of one's own fist. Everything else is discarded.

"Negativity and malevolence are not hard to spot at every corner. Sick bastards vying for control are too many to count.

"However, beyond all of that, the jujutsu society is one that needs to exist. Curses, cursed spirits... they are aspects of human nature that humans must be protected from." He took another sip from the tea and looked silently at Yaga.

"I see." He nodded.

"Why ask this however?" Shuichi inquired.

"No reason. I just felt like asking you about it. A middle aged man ought to have some doubts about his outlooks on life, don't you think?" He said with a chuckle.

Are you sure you aren't beginning to go senile?

Shuichi said in his heart. However he didn't say it out loud.

"Now, let me get to the reason I called you here."

"Please."

"Then, Shuichi, I presume you are knowledgeable about the Ainu Jujutsu society."

Shuichi thought for a moment before muttering, "A little."

Yaga looked on, so Shuichi continued.

"I know about their modus operandi and the two Ainu schools of Jujutsu. They don't take any help from the mainland and their interaction with the mainland is also minimal. The two schools are responsible for the entirety of Hokkaido. They include the Ainu Flame School and the Ainu Onmyōdō* School."

"Are you knowledgeable about the Great Harae Ritual?"

"Great Harae? Of course. It's the ritual held at the end of September, used to purify all of Hokkaido using a rite and using all the cursed energy to make tools." Shuichi explained briefly.

Yaga smiled, pleased at his knowledge.

At the same time, Shuichi was confused.

What is this a test? For a former member of one of the great clans, its obvious to be at least this knowledgeable. He lampooned.

"The Great Harae ritual is the reason that I have called you here today." He put his tea cup on the table and leaned forward.

Seeing his serious expression, Shuichi began to focus.

"As you might already be aware, the entirety of mainland has undergone a rapid influx of cursed spirits due to an overall increase in cursed energy, proving to be more than a challenge for the jujutsu schools.

"Well, the same is true for Hokkaido. The Ainu Jujutsu Schools are not so broad in terms of magnitude, just like the mainland schools. As such, they have deemed it fit to prepone the date of the Great harae to the 27th of June."

Shuichi turned to contemplation.

The great harae has been deemed fit to be preponed due to the influx of cursed spirits.

The date is a little more than a week to go. What does that have to do with me? Suddenly, it clicked.

So they want me to represent the mainland and make tools... since I have demonstrated the ability to make special grade tools, they might be thinking of getting maximum benefits from this... Shuichi smirked imperceptibly.

"And what does that have to do with the meeting?" Shuichi probed for confirmation.

"As you know, the Great harae rite is followed by the making of cursed tools by the energy collected and the 'blessed' materials collected after the ritual. Because you hold the ability to make cursed tools with such efficiency, the higher ups want you to represent the mainland in the great harae."

Pitter-patter~

Pitter-patter~

The soft sound of rain came in waves. The deep colored clouds above poured down onto the ground with intensity. The otherwise busy streets of London were now only field with the ongoing vehicles and some people that had umbrellas for rain coats.

The large buildings and aesthetic architecture looked particularly eye catching in such an environment. Not particularly gloomy, but eliciting such a reaction from any non native. The red sun disc in the sky was hidden by the dense over coat of the dark mist devils in the sky.

The short instances of lightning illuminated the sky with a purplish hue. The clouds twisted and turned, they turned black and purple and then black again.

At the edge of the main road, linked to a four way intersection, was a small inconspicuous shoo. The banner above it read- "Books of Wonder!"

Inside was a sprawling store of labyrinthine like book shelves, arranged so as if to make people purposefully get lost.

At the deep end of the store, another door was erected. Only this one had a very peculiar symbol on it.

It was a cross symbol of the catholic church, however, it was bordered by a deep blue circle.

"Are you ready?" A feminine voice came from inside the door.

Just then, the door opened.

A male figure, approximately 6 foot 2 inches walked out. His hair were a deep shade of black and held eyes of the same, if not darker, tone. He was clean shaven and a little bit pale in color. He had a high nose and slanting eyes, giving him the look of a lazy, but handsome fellow.

He donned a standard tan gabardine suit, that supported one too many pockets, with the buttons of the coat opened. The breast pocket of the suit held the same symbol as did the door.

"I told you, I'm ready. I'm the best aren't I?" He asked, turning his body a bit to look behind him.

His eyes met that of a young woman, a blonde. She was a typical, venerated European beauty, embodying all of the qualities perfectly.

She wore a simply t-shirt and jeans.

She rolled her eyes at the man, "Your narcissism doesn't give me too much confidence." She said.

"Narcissism? I prefer calling it the truth." The man said, rolling his hair back his his hand.

"Yeah yeah." She huffed, sounding defeated. "Just don't mess anything up. Don't piss off any important people and please, for the love of Christ, keep your narcissistic remarks to yourself."

The man huffed in displeasure.

"Relax okay? It won't be like last time. That old geezer just wasn't able to understand my majesty."

A vein threatened to pop on the woman's head. "Shut up! Don't make any trouble or I'll have to show you how I was raised!" She said, her small sandal in her hand already.

The man sweat dropped a bit before nodding.

"I will keep that in mind." The man said before donning a pose. "However! I can't do anything if the people there are stunned by my beauty!" He yelled fervently like a cultist.

"&#@!^&!" At that point, the man no longer cared about what the lady was saying and directly dashed out from the store, leaping over all the book shelves.

"See ya! Elizabeth!"

A large expanse of trees and greenery extended over the horizons, stretching on for who knew how long.

The sky above was mostly devoid of any clouds or objects, making way for the entirety of the sun's rays to fall onto the ground.

Somewhere in this expanse, a large circular formation lay.

It was a semi perfect circular clearing, hosting many building, temples and strange, majestic architecture in a formation. All the buildings cane together to form one of the greatest formations in history: the Chakravyūha!**

In the compound, many monks went about their businesses. Some resting along the shade of the bodhi trees, some meditating under the sun, under the water or in the temples, and some sitting in strange formations, used to stimulate the body and soul.

In one of the main buildings, located at almost the centre of the Chakravyūha, save for one last circle, a lone man sat in front of a wise monk.

The man sat in the Padmasana- the lotus position.

His skin was of a lighter shade of Indian brown, with his hair and eyes being a dark black in colour. He had a broad forehead and share eyes, giving him a calm, yet predatory look. He had some facial hair, though it was also cut short.

The man wore a silver tank top and a wide and comfortable loin cloth under. His muscles were clearly visible, somewhat protruding out like a collection of hard rocks. Despite that, the man's figure looked lean and flexible.

In front of the man was a monk, wearing nothing but a loin cloth. His muscles were also somewhat bulging. He had a large beard that extended to his chest and a somewhat large forehead due to less hair on his head.

"Arjun, you should leave today itself. Such things are not meant to be delayed." The master said. "The Japanese magical community has much that we can learn. It is going to be your first trip there I believe?"

"Yes master!"

"Then you should learn carefully. You never know when it might come into use."

The man, Arjun, nodded obediently. "Will do, master!"

He looked up at the old and wise monk.

"Master, what is the quote that I need to do chintan(thought) on, for that time?"

The monk scratched his chin.

"For your trip, I belive I must give you something more difficult that normal.

"Then, here is one that I thought about for an entire month once-

"'If a Shadow walks in the sunlight, where does it seek refuge from itself?'"

The man nodded in enlightenment.

The monk extended his hand, "You may leave."

Without another word, Arjun walked out.
