Chapter 48: Chapter 48

Journalling In Marvel

Chapter 48

Stark Confused: This Wasn't in the Journal

Inside the cave.

Hiss! Intense flames burst forth from the nozzle of the blowtorch, cutting through a rugged steel plate.

Tony Stark, with goggles on, gripped the blowtorch tightly in his hands, the epitome of focus and seriousness.

The Iron Man suit was his only hope for escape, and Tony Stark certainly wasn't taking any chances with it.

"Stark, let me take over. You're running out of stamina," said Yinsen, who had been assisting Tony, as he stepped up to take his place.

"No, you handle the other tasks. I must do this myself," Tony Stark sharply refused.

He knew every component of the Iron Man suit, down to the smallest detail.

Only he could assemble it with the utmost speed.

Anyone else would slow down the process, even Yinsen.

Having spent some time together, Yinsen understood Tony Stark well enough to know that there would be no changing his mind and said no more.

In his heart, he silently hoped that the playboy would succeed! He had already decided.

Even if it meant sacrificing his own life, he would help Tony Stark escape.

Ratatat! Ratatat!

Just as these thoughts crossed his mind, a barrage of gunfire suddenly rang out from outside.

Both Tony Stark and Yinsen were startled.

They instinctively stopped what they were doing and looked towards the direction of the iron door.

What had happened?

Was there a fierce firefight outside?

And there wasn't just the sound of gunfire; there were also the sounds of exploding shells.

The firefight was intense indeed!

"I've been captured here for so long, and this is the first time something like this has happened," commented Yinsen, pushing up his glasses, a hint of excitement crossing his face as he glanced at the playboy. "Could it be that someone has finally come to rescue you?"

To Yinsen, that was the only possibility.

After all, the playboy's identity was extraordinary.

There must be countless people looking for him.

Even though more than a month had passed, which seemed like a long time, what other possibility could there be?

Someone is here to rescue me?

Tony Stark, however, instinctively shook his head.

The journal had been very clear.

The great Tony wasn't rescued by someone; instead, he escaped by building an Iron Man suit!

So, the commotion outside probably wasn't because someone had come to rescue him.

Or perhaps someone did come, but ultimately failed.

In either case, it was not possible for the great Tony to escape at this moment.

So Tony Stark held no such hope.

Ratatat! Boom! Boom!

Just like that, as Tony Stark and Yinsen watched in a mix of awe and uncertainty, the sounds of the firefight outside grew even fiercer.

From the noise, it sounded as if two armies were locked in battle.

Boom!

And ultimately, it was as if an earthquake had hit; the whole world shook violently.

Including the cave where the two men were, the surroundings trembled violently, and it indeed felt like the ground was shifting and the mountains were shaking.

Both Tony Stark and Yinsen staggered, nearly toppling to the ground."What just happened?"

Having steadied themselves, the two exchanged glances, each seeing the confusion and puzzlement on the other's face.

What kind of weapon could have caused such a dramatic event as they had just witnessed?

The critical question was, they hadn't heard any explosions!

So~

The violent shaking of the earth was not due to a fierce explosion?

Then what kind of power could it be?

"It's quiet now."

"The sound of gunfire from outside has disappeared."

Caught in their perplexity, Yinsen's extremely keen senses picked up on this, and his expression changed immediately.

"Right, it's gone."

Tony Stark had noticed it too and felt increasingly that something was amiss.

Just when the firefight was at its fiercest, why did it suddenly cease?

This did not follow any usual logic.

Could it be...

That the force that caused the earthquake was responsible for this?

Did that force, in a moment, take out one of the sides in the battle completely?

Both Tony Stark and Yinsen had numerous questions flashing through their minds.

They looked at each other, only to see bewilderment on each other's faces.

Neither knew what exactly had happened outside.

But they both had a hunch that whatever had happened was no small matter.

The atmosphere became somewhat eerie in the absolute quiet.

Dong!

At that moment, a clear metallic sound rang out.

Tony Stark and Yinsen were instantly on high alert.

They stood upright in unison, reflexively turning their gaze towards the sole large iron door.

Someone was coming!

Were those guys up to something again? Were they planning to secretly move them?

Clang!

Another loud noise came, interrupting the thoughts of Tony Stark and Yinsen.

Under their watchful eyes, a tremendous force acted upon the big iron door, which flew straight outwards— not into the cave, but out of it.

Duang!

A foot lifted in mid-air, stomping the heavy iron door underfoot.

A strange individual wearing a mask, with a head of thick black hair,

appeared before the eyes of Tony Stark and Yinsen.

???

Who could this person be?

The gaze of both Tony Stark and Yinsen focused intently upon the newcomer.

The same question flashed through their minds.

Who is this?

Undoubtedly, it was Zhou Cheng.

After eliminating all the terrorists outside, Zhou Cheng had made his way directly here.

He had easily found where Tony Stark was being held.

And then?

With a casual exertion of Bansho Tenin, he tore down the iron door with ease, just like that.

"There's no need to be nervous."

Seeing the uneasy and wary looks in the eyes of Tony Stark and Yinsen, Zhou Cheng spoke slowly, "You're safe now, you can leave."

Tony Stark and Yinsen exchanged a glance, then cautiously approached the doorway.

Just as cautiously, they poked their heads out to look.

Sure enough.

The corridor outside was completely empty, not a soul in sight.

Whew!

Both men instinctively exhaled in relief.

With someone having broken in, the men of the Decalogue Gang would not have remained indifferent.

So, what this person said was very likely true.

They might have truly been saved!

This was indeed great news!
