Chapter 9: Chapter Eight

-Kaito POV-

I whirled around, staring at the monster that appeared out of nowhere. It was a gruesome thing, a skeleton, nothing like the one that I killed a second ago.

This one was riding a grotesque horse, its figure distorted. Instead of hooves, it had skeletal palms, instead of a normal tail, a long scorpion-like appendage extended from its rear end. and instead of normal teeth, the ones it had could pass for razors.

On the other hand, the figure riding it was disturbing. Its ribcage wasn't empty, many skeleton parts were used to fill it. The bones that made up the hand were a combination of not just human, but animal bones as well making a makeshift armor for it.

Inside of the skull were two eyeballs, no pupil, just the white orbs.

The two creatures were connected to each other, making it difficult to distinguish if it was one entity or two.

Before it could do anything, two, pitch black chains shot forward from behind me, wrapping around its chest and squeezing.

It wasn't long before blue projectiles, which turned out to be squids once I took a closer look, started birraging the creature.

Smoke covered its figure as my eyes narrowed. A slash of black energy flew toward us and my energy reacted instinctively, as water gathered in front of me into a dome that covered the newcomers and me.

It shattered on contact and the dome exploded outward. Undeterred, I reached out and gathered the water into a large cone and made it spin.

The cone rushed forward, impacting the demon steed and drilling through half of it easily, but unfortunately, the healing factor turned out to be too great as I felt the energy rush into its body, regrowing the horse's right half.

"Well, shit."

I muttered, my frown growing more permanent as I looked up at the barrier that was surrounding us.

Two black orbs rushed forward at blinding speed from behind me, but the knight-like demon just waved its hand and blew one apart while the other managed to knock off one of the shoulder guards.

Nice shot, Jackass.

I couldn't help it. Being sarcastic helped me remain calm.

I needed a water source, getting water from the atmosphere takes too much of my energy for me to fight in a prolonged fight.

"Hey, hey! Calm down people, I got this!"

The lanky kid walked up and past me, taking off his glasses.

"Dumbass, We are in a domain expansion, your cursed technique won't work!"

The white-haired guy waved a hand and extended a hand, blue energy gathering in front of it. I frowned, feeling the pull on my body it had, and secured my feet with water that lowly froze.

Leaning back slightly, I watched with intrigue as the blue ball rushed forward and the demon tried to dash to the side, or well, its horse did.

The monster galloped around us in a circle and I took the chance to bind its mounts feet with water chains, freezing them over the moment they formed.

One of the three that came here took this chance to summon a giant worm that rushed to the curse, trying to swallow it whole.

I sent a weary glance at the guy with baggy pants but didn't have the time to ponder much longer when the worm crashed into the skeleton. Some of its bones scattered as I watched the worm devour the rest wearily but the others seemed to relax.

"Well, now that it's over, let's get back to the important topic. Who are you?"

The white-haired guy leaned forward, tilting his head at me. But I looked at the barrier that surrounded us. It was still there.

"Gojo, give the guy a bre-"

"The domain is still up, you idiots, don't relax!"

As soon as the only remaining male of the four said that, behind the white-haired guy, Gojo, the bones that were scattered when the skeleton was eaten started gathering in one place.

When they did, new bones started materializing rapidly, and seconds later, the skeleton was back, sitting on its horse like it had never eaten in the first place.

"Well... We figured out what his domain does, at least."

Gojo remarked lamely, putting his glasses back on his face.

What the hell was a domain?! Do these things get immortality if they get a domain?!

"Alright, fuck this, I want to sleep."

The guy that used chains groaned out and thrust his hand forward, with his middle finger pointing to the sky. The guy was flipping the monster off... Was this some sort of secret technique?

"Domain Expansion!"

With a shout, the world turned white. I looked around frantically a little freaked out, and who could blame me? Thankfully, the others were still here, looking dumbfounded at the guy who just did whatever this was.

I watched as black ooze seeped out of his clothes, forming a perfect outline of the guy. On his other side, A small black panther formed which rapidly grew in size, reaching the monster's size.

The panther rushed forward, and soon two beings clashed. A black wave of energy cut through it, only for it to reform not even a second later.

"Bruh, it hasn't even been a day, what is this? A lame fanfiction?"

I furrowed my eyebrows, looking between a guy whose name I still did not know and his clone.

Did the clone have a separate personality?

"Not the time, do the thing."

The clone twisted his head like he was about to pop his neck but no sound came, so with a disappointed sigh, he rushed forward too, two black chains coming out of his wrists.

As the panther and the skeleton were facing off, the clone wrapped chains around the horse skeleton's legs, managing to trip it along with its rider.

I watched as the black panther bit into the monster, destroying the horse's skull. The skeleton thrashed around and another wave of energy cut through the panter with no effect yet again.

The clone's back erupted with chains, wrapping around the rest of the body that the panther was not busy thrashing and tightening, crushing any bones that the chains came across.

... What the hell was happening?
