Chapter 5: be happy boys
"Oh, Fushiguro," Itadori called out from across the hall, "you look like you're doing well now."
"There were plenty of other empty rooms, weren't there?" Megumi responded curtly.
"But isn't livelier better?" Gojo chimed in. "I thought it'd be good for-"
"Classes and missions are enough. This was an unwelcome favor," Megumi interrupted, his tone firm.
"Wow, it's so organized," Itadori peered into Megumi's room.
"I just said you're unwelcome!" Megumi slammed his door shut, narrowly missing Itadori.
"Go easy on the newbie, Megumi," Yuki walked down the hall from his own room.
"Oh! You're that other guy," Itadori called out, interrupting Megumi.
"Yuki, nice to meet you," he held out his hand for Itadori.
"Well, now that you're all here, we're heading out tomorrow! We're going to pick up the last first-year!" Gojo announced energetically.

"Okay, once again," Gojo ordered.
"Kugisaki Nobara. Be happy, boys. I'm the only woman in your group," Nobara introduced herself with a hint of sass.
"I'm Itadori Yuuji. I'm from Sendai," Itadori introduced himself cheerfully.
"Fushiguro Megumi," Megumi grumbled, his tone devoid of enthusiasm.
"Yuki, nice to meet you," Yuki greeted her, maintaining a calm demeanour.
Nobara's first impression was less than favourable. her thought along the line of , 'He's like a potato, Mr. high-and-mighty and average but boring.'
Sighing, Nobara expressed her frustration, "I always get stuck with unfortunate circumstances."
"It seems she took one look and sighed," Itadori noted with a tinge of annoyance.

"There's a curse here," Megumi stated the obvious.
"You liar!" Itadori and Nobara whined in disbelief.
"This isn't even Roppongi!" Itadori protested.
"You were toying with us country folk!" Nobara finished, feeling deceived.
...
"I want to know what you two are capable of. Just think of this as a field test. Nobara, Yuuji, you two go exorcise the curse inside that building," Gojo called out, giving them their assignment.
"Geh," Itadori grumbled reluctantly.
...
"Go on now!" Gojo urged them.
"He's going to break that knife," Yuki observed with a hint of concern.
"It will be alright," Gojo dismissed Yuki's worries with a laugh.
...
"What do you know, the knife is still intact," Gojo beamed with pride.
"Yeah, yeah, hey Itadori, hand me that knife, please," Yuki requested, ignoring Gojo's amusement.
"What are you going to do with it?" Itadori asked curiously as he handed over the knife.
Yuki smirked but didn't reply. Instead, he tilted his head back, opened his jaw to an inhuman size, and swallowed the knife.
"BLURH," Nobara couldn't help but vomit at the grotesque sight. Megumi and Itadori's faces twisted in disgust.
"Hahaha," Yuki laughed at their reactions, finding their disgust amusing.

"Detainee Block 2. At present, five detainees remain there with the curse womb. If this curse womb is the type that metamorphoses, we predict it will become a special-grade curse spirit-"
Yuki zoned out, mentally preparing for the fight with Sukuna that would happen soon.
"-counter a special-grade, your options are to either run or die," the seriousness of the situation sank in to the group.
...
"It's becoming night!" Itadori exclaimed, his eyes widening in alarm.
"It's a Veil. There's a residential area nearby, so this barrier conceals us from the outside world," Megumi explained in a flat tone.
"That's incredible!"
Clap! A white wolf emerged from Megumi's shadow. "He'll let us know if the curse gets close," Megumi added.
"I see, I see," Itadori acknowledged.
...
"That's three people, right?" The four of them stared at the mangled corpses, each processing the scene with different emotions.
"Let's take this body back," Itadori said somberly. "It's that woman's son. His face isn't too badly mangled. His mother won't accept it if we tell her he's dead but have no body."
Megumi roughly grabbed the back of Itadori's uniform, pulling him away from the corpses. "We have to find and verify two more. Leave that body behind."
"Quit joking around! We turned around, and the way we got in here was gone! We won't be able to come back for it later."
"I didn't say come back for it! I said to leave it behind!" Megumi retorted with anger. "I have no intention of risking my own life to save someone I had no intention of saving in the first place!"
Yuki sighed, choosing to ignore the argument between Yuuji and Megumi. He focused on preparing himself for his encounter with Sukuna.
...
"We're running!"
As soon as Megumi made the call he wasted no time, grabbing Megumi and fleeing. "Trust yourself and Sukuna. We've got Nobara," Yuki instructed Itadori as he ran.
"R-Right."
...
"I hate frogs, you know."
...
"You two get out of here and expand the evacuation area to ten kilometres. Megumi, stay," Yuki took command.
"Hai."
...
Yuki seized the opportunity, Sōko wrapped around him and at the ready. Now all he had to do was fight.
"This is the most serious I've ever seen you," Megumi commented as he readied his shikigami.
"Sorry, but he's not coming back," Sukuna appeared behind them.
Yuki swiftly struck, landing a powerful blow on the Sukuna-possessed Yuuji, then chopping Megumi on the neck and letting Sōko consume him.
"Tsk, that's not nice, brat," Sukuna was enraged. "Still, it was smart of you to remove one of my targets from the equation." Sukuna ripped off Yuuji's shirt. "But I still have this one," he tore out Yuuji's heart and tossed it aside. "Switching out with me means he dies. Also," he retrieved another cursed finger from another curse. "For good measure," he ate it. "With that, I'm free as a bird. You can be frightened now. I'll kill you."
Yuki wasted no time, launching himself at Sukuna with a swift right hook that was promptly blocked. Latching onto Sukuna, he pulled out one end of the 'Chain of a Thousand Miles' and wrapped it around Sukuna's arm. "What are you going to do with that?" Sukuna taunted.
Rip!
Yuki pulled on the chain, tearing Sukuna's arm off "you know, that accomplished nothing" Sukuna taunted again while regenerated his arm
time, he needed to stall
