Chapter 79: Under his protection

Amber shifted uncomfortably in her seat as she looked at Alexander. She could feel his heated gaze on her. She had succeeded in making him like her but now what?

How will she be able to do what the mayor told her to do?

Amber suddenly felt anxious thinking about the fact that she was going to sleep with one of the mafia leaders and then kill him. The idea itself was crazy and dangerous and doing it is harder.

Alexander noticed how Amber's mood suddenly switched and was staring at him with fear in her eyes. He didn't understand what he did that caused her to feel that. Women are complicated beings.

"You look scared. Is it because of me?" He asked, picking up his wine glass, and drinking it in one gulp. His eyes fixed on her, reading her every expression.

Amber lowered her eyes, not knowing how to reply. Yes, she was scared of him, of the mayor, and of what might happen to her and her family.

"Yes." She replied, honestly.
