Chapter 7: The Auction

Without giving any explanation on how this auction is going to happen, two guards begin to transport the first cage. Arion can't really see where exactly they are taking the cages. It seems like outside the room, he is located now, is a longer not so well lid corridor. He can only hear how the sound of the transportation slowly fades away. It seems to be impossible for him to hear anything related to the auction itself. So he can't really make himself an image on what is going on at the auction. He has no choice except to wait for his turn. As one enclosure after the other is being transported to it, Lana's turn has now arrived. Arion does not really know how to react in this situation, so he simply gives Lana a friendly head nod. As to wish her well, because they are most likely never seeing each other again. Now Arion is left all alone in the room, awaiting his turn.

After a while, which seems like an eternity to Arion, it is finally his turn. Two guards come into the room and start to move his enclosure to the slightly lid corridor. It is just wide enough for the cage to fit barely through. After several hundreds of meters, it meets with a giant entrance that is covered by giant black curtain. Without any of the guards saying a single word, his cage is being pushed closer and closer to the curtain. He now begins to hear a faint voice that comes from behind the cloak. Arion can hear his own introduction by the auction master: "Dear Lords and Ladies, and now for our main Object, I present to you a very rare specimen. Dear customers you are very fortunate to have visited the auction today, I present to you a half-demon.". Just after the sentence was spoken, the guards push Arion with his enclosure through the curtain onto the stage. After they place his cage into the middle, they give the visitors a small bow and leave immediately. The room seems to be completely filled with guests, there are at least a hundred of them. Some of them Arion is sure are of a higher status than others, but there is one person who seems a bit suspicious. Mainly because he wears a complete black coat with something similar to a hoodie. Arion directly thinks that this person doesn't want to be recognized by anyone.

"Lords and Ladies, we will now begin the auction, the starting price is at 500 Silver coins. May the bidding begin". Just after the announcement, the visitors begin to raise the price at a tremendous speed. The bidding is suddenly interrupted by the hooded man: "Don't you people think it would be wiser to know, if this half demon has powers?", he proclaims. Complete silence roams through the auction room, and every bidder turns their head towards the auctioneer. "If you don't have anything to hide and this slave is really a half demon, you would definitely have nothing against a little demonstration, do you?", the man voices in anticipation. "Dear Lord, this is not something that can be easily done. There is a reason why he is kept in chains, these are enchanted chains that prevent him from using his powers. The moment we would take these off, he could escape very easily or even attack us, and to be honest I don't think our guards would be able to handle him.", explains the auctioneer. To which the hooded man says, "So basically we only have your word, and no real proof?", asks the man. The auction master says: "There is one other option, but it could damage the goods a tiny bit. We can force him to use his powers, while wearing the chains, which would give him an unbearable amount of pain afterwards. But fear not it would not be lasting, after a while the pain will fade away.", and calls in two guards. The guards now walk up to Arion, "Now do something small, in that way your pain won't be that harsh.", they proclaim. To which Arion simply says hard enough so that everyone in the room can hear it: "Why don't you just remove the chains?". The guards are not so fond of his ideas, and unsheath their swords in response. One of the guards pushes it slightly into his left arm, so that he even starts to bleed a little. As Arion can't really estimate how their actions will proceed he gives in and decides to push one of the guards away. As Astalfion explained before he needs to have a clear image of what should happen. An invisible force should push the man that just cut him hardly enough that he would be catapulted a few meters back. Now that Arion has a clear image, he abruptly opens his eyes and looks precisely at the targeted guard. His eyes light up in a bright red and the guard is pushed even further than he initially planned. Obviously his action is followed by a massive amount of pain coming from the chains.

Now that the audience has witnessed his powers, the hooded man takes action. "25 Gold coins!", he shouts. The whole room goes into complete silence. "25 Gold coins as the highest bidder, anyone wants to give more? Twenty Five gold coins for first. … Twenty Five Gold coins a second. … Third and sold. Congratulations to the man in the back." The auctioneer goes on with his speech, and at the same time two guards start to move Arion to the next room.
