Chapter 10: Princess Orelia
Arion, Disilphon and his guards continue to travel through the forest. Arion is a bit looking forward to meeting the king's daughter. But he is also hoping for someone he can get along easily. As some time passes while traveling through the forest, which is not well lit as the trees are growing very close to each other. This leaves not much space for sunlight to reach all the way through. During this time Arion gets the feeling as something ominous is watching them from behind the trees. But he is not familiar with this kind of feeling so he brushes it off, without giving it too much thought. One of the guards peeks inside the carriage and says: "We are reaching the opening to the lake, we should meet up with the princess in a few minutes". Arion gets a little nervous, from the declaration of the guard. "We will take a rest at the lake, and stay there for the night.", informs Disilphon. Just after the king finished his sentence, the carriage is embraced by sunlight again. They have reached the lake.
The carriages stops and Arion can hear the two guards on the front disembark. They move towards the door of the carriage and slowly open them. The bright sunlight peers into the carriage followed by a guards hand, intended to help the king out. After the king has exited, Arion gets up and leaves as well. Arion takes a close look around, as he has not yet seen the outside of this world in good detail. The lake is reflecting the sunlight, which lets the blue water shimmer beautifully. The lake is surrounded by green grass, which is again surrounded by the dense forest, they were coming from. The kings eyes sweep around the open area shortly and asks: "Where is Orelia?". The guard directly points at a pretty big tent close to the water, in front of it seems to be a small fire pit. Disilphon without further delay walks over to the tent and calls out: "Orelia, I have returned". After the king's proclamation the entry curtain of the tent is pushed to the side and a girl walks out. "Welcome back Father, I hope your travels were not too exhausting?", she asks. The princess has a different feeling to her as Arion imagined. She isn't wearing a shiny frilly dress, but to his surprised she seems to wear trousers and a shirt. "These are not clothes that a Princess wear, but they look more like the clothes of a woman knight in her free time.", Arion thinks. On top of that the girl has short black hair and red eyes. Arion is instantly drawn in by the shining eyes of hers. "No, the ride went without any problems. And as I promised I return with your personal guard.", Disilphon explains and points towards Arion. The princess now turns her head in Arions direction and gives him a sceptic look. She seems to analyze him from head to toe, and then turns her attention back to the King. "I told you that I won't accept anyone that is weaker than me.", she states. "I know and that's why I went through all the trouble to find someone like Arion.", he explains. "Hmmm ...", the princess utters, and walks up to Arion, "How about we try this out, a little sparring?", says the princess and instantly turns to the guards: "Someone bring this one a sword". The princess turns around and walks back to her tent, and disappears for a short moment. When she returns, two short swords, they seem a bit too long for daggers, bounce on her hips. Now a guard hands Arion a sword from behind. Arion extremely taken by surprise by this situation is unsure how to react, turns is head towards Disilphon. The king gives him a nod and says: "The sparring will give you two a chance to get to know each other, I will allow it under the single condition that no one is to be hurt", he explains. "May I use them?", Arion asks, but before Disilphon could answer the princes said out loudly: "You may make use of whatever you want". And so a sparring between Arion and the Princess starts.
"Why hasn't the princess mentioned anything about my horn, has she not noticed. No that's not possible, but what about the sparring, maybe I should just finish this sparring as fast as possible, and show my strength, but this might intimidate her, so it might be better to keep it going for a bit before going for the win, ...", Arion thinks, but before he can finish, the princess leaps forward in a first strike attempt. To Arion though it seems that the princess isn't moving that fast, but to everyone else she is. Arion himself is not realizing this though. As it seems to him that she is moving quite slowly he can evade with ease. Up to this point, Arion hasn't unsheathed his sword. Suddenly Arion has this ominous feeling from before again, and it seems to come from the forest. His concentration is broken, and the princess, in that moment, seems to be moving faster. As he realizes this, his attention goes back to the fight and the princesses movements slow down again. Arion soon realizes that he unintentionally made use of his powers to get a better grasp at the fight. As the sparring match has been going for a while, Arion makes his first move towards the princes, but to his surprise she is able to block his strike. The ominous feeling gets even worse and starts to worry Arion, so he leaps back from the fight. To his surprise though he jumped a lot further than expected, to which the princess shouts: "Giving up already?", Arion simply gives her a gesture to be quite. The princess attempts to say something, but is shut down by a giant growl coming from the forest. The growl is followed by the cracking of trees that seem to be falling down, indicating that something pretty big is coming in their direction. The guards seem to get up and ready to protect the king and the princess. The noise is coming closer and closer, till the point where Arion can perceive two shiny yellow eyes glaring at them from the border of the forest.
