Chapter 4: Lock

I looked at the ceiling. The white ceiling and the comfortable white blanket ensured that I was at a hospital.

"You're awake now… That's good." A woman in a white coat said to me. "Probably" I said, forcing my body up.

"You shouldn't move much," She said. "Nah.. I'm fine." I said as I walked out of bed. "Can I go home?" I asked.

"Well you could, they won't question you since you aren't recovered but, where will you even go?" She asked.

As I was about to answer my apartment then I realised what happened to it. 'Yeah… That's not happening.'

"Don't worry you're a student at lock right? They have dorm facilities," She said.

"For now you should rest here." She stood up from her chair. "You were pretty badly injured had it not been for that man you would've been dead. It took you 4 days to recover."

"I see." I muttered. "How did I survive?" I asked.

"A <S> rank was close by." She simply said. "I don't have any more information, I'm just a doctor."

-Scene Break-

I walked out of the building. I was asked some questions regarding the incident but they didn't press to much.

I answered them, some truths, some half truths. They seem to not know who attacked me and I kept it that way.

But the most important thing was… "I lived through all of Ace's memories." It was probably the reason I was so calm and didn't reveal my brother's involvement.

The news covered it by saying that an apartment was attacked, my name was also not mentioned anywhere.

A car stopped in front of me. "Mr Scepter?" He asked. "Yes." I replied entering the car. I was going to lock, three days after lock began.

My luggage should already be there, lock had a weird way of doing things. After some time we arrived.

-Scene Break-

I walked through the halls of the building. I then looked at the room number. "A25" of course I was in this room, have you seen my luck.

I opened the door. The noisy room suddenly went silent. I sighed and entered the room. "Here! Ace." I heard a voice.

It was Kevin who was waving his hand. After the entrance exam, we had become friends, something about the protagonist's halo can't help but like the guy.

I took a seat beside him. The room was rather silent. Some occasional murmurs and whispers, probably because my charm was on the same level as Kevin and Jin.

"Where were you all these days?" Kevin asked. "I was kinda occupied." I let out a nervous laughter.

As we began to make small talk. An Auburn haired girl entered the class and sat besides Kevin. "Oh. Hello Ace." She greeted me. We weren't friends per se but Emma and Kevin were good friends so I was acquainted with her as well.

The door once again opened, this time a woman entered the class. "That's our home room professor." Kevin said.

Her eyes scanned the room and stopped at me. She then began taking attendance. Slowly it was my turn, "Rank 2, Ace Scepter"

"Present" I said.

I could hear some whispers around the room, "So he is the missing rank."

As the class finished and everyone headed for the next, I said to Kevin, "where are we headed now?"

"The optional classes, did you choose any?" He asked.

"Yeah, See ya." I said after which I headed to engineering class.

The class was quite… how should I say it nicely… "Basic". She basically reiterated some basic formula of optics mixed with some circuit boards.

Ace was not very social, most of his time was spent in his hobbies which included music, reading, robotics and chemistry and was very good at them. Combined with my personal skill set of cooking, a degree in software designing and a job working as a software engineer from my previous life, I was pretty damn versatile.

Probably one of the reasons I found this class so boring even though I was interested in engineering was because of Ace's memories which made the class much more boring than it already was.

As I was exiting the class, I heard a voice, "Ace." I looked to see Kevin. After making my way to Kevin we headed to the next class.

-Scene Break-

After the hectic class, I reached my room. It would be an insult to call this room a five star hotel… to the room.

There was everything one would need, a desk, a bed, a toilet, a bathroom, a personal training facility, a personal kitchen and finally a personal VR capsule. Heck there was even a personal music room.

I let out a satisfied smile as I saw my room. "And Ren thought what he was going through was better than this… Poor guy couldn't even practise his sword without facing ridicule.

Speaking of, I wonder how he reacted to my presence…

-Scene Break-

In the horned sheep dormitory,

A boy with blue eyes and black hair was panicking because he had once again accidentally damaged the room due to his sword art.

"Shit" he muttered as he desperately thought of a way to cover it. No way was he going to pay for this.

He sighed. "Whatever" As he just passed a poster over it and laid in his bed he thought of the new guy.

"I am certain, I didn't write him." He looked at the book, I can't even change anything related to him.

"Is this because of my existence?" He once again wondered.

Maybe his existence had caused another butterfly effect, this time maybe a character who died before didn't die like him.

"I'm not sure but… It's better to be careful." Ren said as he thought about the future.
