Seeing Lu Yuan approach, Dai Mubai shifted his attention away from the four women beside him. He was about to curse out the man who seemed like nothing more than a drunkard, but then he overheard the name "Lu Yuan" mentioned by someone nearby.
That name—Lu Yuan—he had heard it several times recently. Although Dai Mubai hadn't witnessed Lu Yuan thrash Davis and Zhu Zhuyun, he had heard the stories and found satisfaction in their defeat.
And now, standing before him, wine jar in hand and sword strapped to his back, was Lu Yuan himself.
The curse Dai Mubai had prepared to hurl was quickly swallowed. There was no way he was going to insult this drunkard—it was Lu Yuan after all!
Lu Yuan's unsteady steps brought him closer. Could it be that he was coming over to make friends?
"Brother Lu Yuan, my name is Dai Mubai," he greeted, hoping to break the ice.
"Um… Dai Mubai." Lu Yuan took a sip of wine, the name sounding familiar to him. Then, as if a light bulb went off, he grinned. "Ha… I remember, you're that b*****d!"
Dai Mubai was stunned. He knows me? But clearly, the first impression wasn't a good one.
Dai Mubai quickly tried to salvage the situation. "Brother Lu Yuan, Davis must've spread lies about me. Don't believe him!"
"You are a b*****d!" a cold voice rang out from behind Lu Yuan—Zhu Zhuqing had arrived.
"Zhuqing?!" Dai Mubai's heart sank. He was surrounded by four women, in a very compromising situation. He panicked. "Zhuqing, it's not what you think. I'm just here to… play cards!"
Even he didn't believe the nonsense he was spouting.
Zhu Zhuqing's voice was icy. "Then keep playing. Kitty, let's go have a drink."
Dai Mubai was dumbfounded. Lu Yuan even knew Zhu Zhuqing? And judging by their interaction, they were close. He had never called her "Kitty." And yet here she was, following Lu Yuan as if it were nothing.
"Stop!" Dai Mubai's eyes were red with fury. "Lu Yuan, you owe me an explanation!"
"Where did this fool come from?" one onlooker whispered.
"Does he not know who he's talking to?"
"Who gave this guy the courage to pick a fight with Lu Yuan?"
"Is he suicidal?"
Ignoring the whispers, Dai Mubai squared his shoulders. "Zhuqing is my fiancée. She can't go with you."
"I'm not!" Zhu Zhuqing cut him off sharply. "Not since the day you ran off to the Heaven Dou Empire and left me behind."
Her tone was laced with disgust. She had endured so much to make it to the empire, only to find Dai Mubai engaging in debauchery. And four women? The audacity!
"Wine and song, life geometry!" Lu Yuan said, completely indifferent to Dai Mubai's rage, speaking words no one in this world could comprehend.
The members of the Huangdou Team were used to Lu Yuan's odd sayings. After all, it wasn't unusual for him to spout strange things when drunk.
"A**hole! You look down on me!" Dai Mubai's anger reached a boiling point. What made it worse was seeing Lu Yuan, clearly drunk, leaning on Zhu Zhuqing's shoulder like it was the most natural thing in the world.
With a roar, Dai Mubai activated his Martial Soul. "White Tiger, possess!"
The Huangdou Team wisely backed away, giving the two plenty of space.
Yu Tianheng groaned, "This idiot is really going to pick a fight with Lu Yuan?"
Qin Ming, watching from a distance, shouted, "Lu Yuan, don't kill him!"
Oslo added his own plea, "White Tiger boy, run while you still can!"
But Dai Mubai couldn't stand the humiliation any longer. "Lu Yuan, you b*****d!" he roared, activating his White Tiger Barrier and White Tiger Vajra transformation simultaneously. "White Tiger Light Wave!"
A powerful blast of white light shot from Dai Mubai's mouth, aimed straight at Lu Yuan.
But Lu Yuan, more concerned about his wine jar than the attack, casually deflected the wave with one hand. He then grabbed Dai Mubai, lifting him off the ground and slamming him down hard.
Dai Mubai felt his breath leave him in a rush, his internal organs rattling. Before he could recover, Lu Yuan kicked him hard in the abdomen, sending him flying out of the Rose Hotel like a ragdoll.
Yu Tianheng, watching from a distance, sighed. "We better go buy him a jar of wine. It might be the only thing that'll save us."
Recalling the time Lu Yuan had merely smacked him around, Yu Tianheng realized how lucky he had been. He figured the jar of wine he had offered Lu Yuan back then had been his saving grace.
"Captain, we'll go with you!" the others quickly added.
Even Qin Ming chimed in, "Bring me a jar as well."
"Gulp, gulp, gulp…"
"Kitty, let's go have a drink!" Lu Yuan said with a grin.
After the incident, Zhu Zhuqing decided to stay in Soto City for a while. Going back to Xingluo City wasn't an option, but neither could she join Lu Yuan in Tiandou City, at least not yet.
"Kitty, don't be sad," Lu Yuan said, noticing her solemn expression. "That scumbag isn't worth it. He doesn't even have the guts to own up to what he's done."
With Ye Lingling and Dugu Yan nestled comfortably on either side of him, Lu Yuan took another swig of wine. "See? I've got Yanyan and Lingling by my side, and I admit it openly!"
Yu Tianheng, watching from the corner, felt his teeth grind. How is this any different from the Cao thief? If it weren't for Lu Yuan, he might have been happily coupled by now. But alas, he dared not voice his frustrations—not with Lu Yuan being drunk again.
Zhu Zhuqing, saying nothing, took the wine jar from Lu Yuan.
"Gulp, gulp, gulp…"
She then leaned over, giving him a light hug. "Lu Yuan, it's been fun drinking with you. Goodbye."
With those words, Zhu Zhuqing hurriedly left the Rose Hotel, as if fleeing from something.
Lu Yuan blinked, puzzled. "She didn't finish her drink… Do I really have to figure out what girls are thinking?"
After a brief moment of contemplation, Lu Yuan sighed and promptly scolded himself. He knew better—understanding women was beyond his abilities.
