<Conquer Erina [2m]: — >
Klyde's eyes widened in shock as he saw this. His first quest from the system turned out to be a rather unreasonable one.
'Conquer Erina?! What's that supposed to mean?! You want me to conquer a nation or something?! I just arrived!'
Someone opened the door from inside to find Klyde standing in front of it. Her expression turned from shocked to slightly scared.
"Good afternoon, Sir. May I have permission to pass?!' The adventurer said. Stuttering like crazy while sweating bullets.
"Oh, sorry. You can pass." Klyde said as he moved out of the way.
The adventurer quickly ran away, leaving Klyde confused.
'What's with her?'
He closed his system and entered the guild. The moment he entered all eyes were on him.
"Is that a Skypirian?"
"God, he's so handsome."
"Who is that guy?!"
"What's a looker like him doing here?"
"It's rare to see people with Skypirian armour here."
"That guy must be rich."
"Dude with Skypirian armour in a town like this?"
It's as if he's flicked a light switch. The room was now filled with chatter about him. He sigh and just went to the guild receptionist. The receptionist was a blonde haired elf woman with emerald green eyes. Her clothes were rather simple and she had a sword sheathed to her back.
"Excuse me, miss. I'd like to register as an adventurer here"
"Okay sir. May I have your card?"
Klyde took out his card and handed it to her. She took the card and looked at it. The receptionist seemed a bit shocked as she looked at his card. She took a rectangular object made out of metal from under her desk with a space for the card and a red gemstone.
She placed the card inside the space and asked Klyde to put his finger on the gen. The gem glowed and the card changed form a white color to a grey one.
"You have been registered, Klyde Iagon. You are now silver rank, class C. You may take your card."
'Silver? That doesn't sound bad. How are the ranks sorted though. I'll figure that out later.' Klyde thought as he took his card.
Many of the people in the guild seemed disappointed to hear his level. People thought he would be a powerful adventurer judging by his armour but he was just a level 25.
Klyde sat town on table with two chairs. He took out the book he got from the chest and opened it.
[Welcome to Akidna]
[This book is "The Book of the World". It contains information on everything about Akidna. Just think of a topic and you'll be takem to a page discussing it.]
'Think of a topic? Hmm… Well, I don't want to info dump myself on the first day here so for now, I'll just read about Erina.'
The moment Klyde thought about Erina, the book flipped through multiple pages until reaching one with the title "Erina" and a circular island.
[Erina - Present]
[Population - 1400]
[The land of Erina, once a thriving nation now decreased to only a few living people. It's a desert wasteland infested with millions of monsters. The land is home to the greater dragon Anaka of flames, who awakens every 30 days to feast on any living creature around it, monster or person.]
'A dragon? A freaking dragon. Oh, you've got to be kidding me… Not only will I have to exterminate tons of monsters but deal with a dragon. I already hate this…'
As Klyde was groaning about his mission a girl approached him. She was a human and had blonde hair and two ponytails. The carried a staff with a blue orb, the same colour as her eyes, on her back.
"Hi there. My name is Emily." The girl greeted.
Klyde got up and looked at the girl. He noticed that everyone now had their attention on the two, but he decided to ignore it.
"Hi, my name is Klyde. Klyde Tolan. Nice to meet you." Klyde responded.
"Are you new to adventuring by any chance?"
"Yes, actually."
"Well, you sure don't seem like it with that crazy gear, hehe." Emily chuckled.
"Oh, really?"
Emily then pointed at his book. "Question, is that book The Book of the World?"
"Um,Yes, actually."
"Wow…That book is real expensive. Can't believe you afforded it. But then again, you do have Skypirian armour."
"How much is this book worth, actually?"
"Hm? You don't know? Well, it would sell for about a hundred gold."
Klyde wasn't all too fazed with that response. He didn't fully understand how the currency of this world actually worked.
"That sounds expensive."
"It is. Well, you better keep your hands on that thing. People might kill you for it."
"I'll make sure to keep it safe then."
"Okay. Oof. I just remembered I gotta do something. Gotta go."
"Bye."
Emily waved his hand at him, giving him a warm smile before walking away.
'That sure was weird. Eh, I think it's about time I pick out a quest now."
Klyde stood up and walked to the quest board which has a total of 15 quests available. Each question had the requested job, the payment and rank.
There was only 3 silver quests at the board. One quest in particular caught his attention.
[Gather 10 Frost Wolf Cores]
[S45]
[Sliver Quest]
"That earlier Frost Wolf was easy to kill so killing 10 of them shouldn't be a problem. Though I don't know where the cores are located."
After careful consideration he decided to take the Frost Wolf quest.
——————
"So the cores are located in the stomach and forests are recommended for monster hunting. If only I had my helmet, finding them would be easier." Klyde said to himself as he wondered through the forest.
"The book also said they are typically in groups of 4 with a max of 10. And their cores are located at the middle of their chest. They should be easy to find then. It'll also help me level up."
He heard the crunch of a dry leaf and imme stopped. He then looked around his surroundings, but there was nothing but trees.
"Something or someone is nearby… I don't see anything though…"
Klyde pulled up a screen and scrolled to the number "2" on a circular disk. He then enabled the toggle and blue lights on his armour glowed.
"Setting the power output to 20% should be good enough."

As Klyde got in a fighting stance 4 Frost Wolves crawled out of the bushes, all surrounding him. He did not focus on the screen in front of him, but rather the opponents around him.
Klyde ran at the Frost Wolf ahead of him with incredible speed and delivered a hard punch to its jaw, sending it flying.

The other wolves started charging a large ice shards to attack. As the other he punched tried to stand Klyde clenched it's chest and used it as the a shield.

Klyde then threw his shield to another Frost Wolf and ran at it at the same same time. The dead body his the frost wolf and Klyde equipped his sword and tapped a button on it. The blade of the sword got enveloped in blue energy's and he cut the other frost wolf's head off.
The other two wolves charged at him at once. They both started firing smaller shards which forces Klyde to cover his head.
He now had to choose. Does he stay on the defense , protecting head or he attack, risking getting damaged.
Klyde lowered his arms exposing his face, now having a grin on it.
"I've faced far worse things than you. So I will not not bow down to pathetic creatures like you!" Klyde yelled as he charged at the two wolves.
The wolves' onslaught of shards continued, some scraping his face but he continued to charge at them.
When he got close enough of the wolves pounced at him, its jaw wide open, ready to attack. Klyde put his sword in the way of the wolf, the blade entering its mouth and penetrating the back of its head.

He swiped his sword, throwing the dead body away and as he was about to focus on the other wolf it had already gotten close to him.
The wolf pounced at him, bitting into his forearm and freezing it. The same thing that happened to him last time. Though this wouldn't play out the same way.
Klyde with his sword still on his right hand tried to stab the creature it just leaped off his arm.
The ice had now spread over to his chest, neck and leg, it was also thicker which could make it hard for him to move.
The Frost Wolf landed and charged at him once again. It pouches at him, aiming for his head this time. He put his arm in the way to block it's attack, making it bite into his forearm.
He threw the wolf away and aimed his blaster which had just came out, to frost wolf.
He the shot the frost and tried jump but the energy still hit its leg, completely destroying it and immobilizing the wolf.
Klyde punched the ice around arm, which made shatter and freed his arm. He then reattached his sword back to his hip to allow himself to break the ice on the rest of his body easily before taking it again.
He then payed his attention to the now disabled wolf. It fired large shards at him as he approached it, which he blocked with his forearm. He finally got to the wolf and stabbed it on the skull, killing it.

"Did leveling up fully recover my body? I don't feel tired as well."
Klyde started looking and patting all over his body, though it rendered useless since he was wearing armour.
A screen appread over his wrist which presented a new problem for Klyde
[ Power: 92.8% ]
[ Power: 92.5% ]
Seeing this screen, Klyde immediately disabled the armour's enhancement as well as his sword's enhancement then reattached his sword and looked back at the screen.

"I almost forgot about power. 92.5% power… If I want to run the armour enhancement longer I'll need a compatible power source. This means I'll have to limit the time and amount I use."
He retracted his wrist blade and cut the Frost Wolf's chest in half, cutting the ribcage aswell. He then dug his hand inside it's chest until felt a round object inside. He pulled out the object and it was a light blue orb with parts of it covered in ice. The orb also had some blood covering it.
He then went on to collect the orbs from the rest of the frost wolves, now having a total of 4.

Klyde was now preparing to leave, but he didn't realize he was being watched. A figure dawned in blood red robes watches Klyde from above. His red hair blows through the wind as he stands above the trees.
Aiming his wand at Klyde, he begins to chant an incantation. His face remained expressionless as continued to chant his spell.
"Element of fire, hear my call. Turn my enemies to ashed in a ball of raging flames. Blazing Sphere."
As he finished his incantation an orb of flames, the same size as it's caster, had formed in front of of his wand.
The orb of flames charged at Klyde's direction. As Klyde turned to see what was making the sounds of roaring flames approaching him, Klyde turned to be greeted by a large fireball which blew up in front of him, sending him flying.

Before Othen could finish his sentence Klyde had already dashed in front of him and before Othen could even react, Klyde landed a critical blow to the stomach.

< Health: 424/600 >
The force of the punch threw Othen away, and he collapsed on his back, his wand slipping out of his hand and meeting with the ground. He clenched his stomach as he groaned in pain and even spat out blood.
"Magic of effects…I call apon you… Restore my body to it's once glorious state… H-healing…" Othen chanted an incantation, his voice weak and clearly in pain.
His body started to glow green as he gained back his health. Othen looked up at Klyde with a more serious and angry but slightly horrified expression. He slow got up, picking up his wand and pointing it at him, though with a slight hesitation.
"Element of fire, hear my call. Ignite a crimson flame apon my palm. Fire." Othen chanted another incantation, creating a 6 flames above his wand.
"You really are persistent, aren't you?" Klyde said.
Othen's flames started to shift and morph, turning into small fireballs. All six of them shot forwards towards Klyde as he ran in Othen's direction. He jumped up to avoid the fireballs but the just followed him up.
All 6 of them landed at Klyde, Exploding on contact. Klyde was pushed higher into the air before he started falling down.

The height was no higher than when he fell into this world which made him not worry. He aimed his blaster at Othen and shot him.
Othen quick casted a barrier but it shattered the moment it was hit. Klyde fired his blaster at him again and it blasted through shoulder, detaching his arm.
Othen slowly looked at his detached left arm and screamed in pain and horror.
Klyde landed on the ground on both feet and held his sword in his hand, slowly approaching Othen.
The area Othen had been shot was burned and sealed, preventing him from bleeding, which Klyde didn't like so much.
"No, no, no! Please spare me! I promise, I won't do it ever again! I-I, I'll even pay, please! I'll do anything!" Othen plead for Klyde to spare his life.
Klyde stabbed Othen on the abdomen and gave him a good glare before pulling out his sword.

Seeing that he got his reward without killing him, decided to leave.
"If you survive this you better stay as far as you can away from me, then I'll let you be. If you die… not my problem." Klyde said, his back turned to him before leaving.
[ Enhancement output: 0%
]
[ Power: 88.6% ]
"88… I can only use this thing for about 70 minutes at full power now… I'm gonna have to use it conservatively until I can get a suitable power source."
While fighting Othen, Klyde analyzed their battle and gained a lot of information on magic.
First, Othen's mana and stamina were linked to a certain extent. His stamina dropped the more mana he either had or used.
Second was that not all spells required incantations. Othen was able to block his attack with a magic barrier and didn't have to say an incantation.
Lastly was each action takes mana. When firing fireballs at him, Othen lost mana when creating the flame, then when forming it and lastly when firing it.
"I should consider learning magic in the future. Regeneration spells will come in pretty handy if I get hurt. Or even offensive magic. I'll do that another day."
