Chapter 578: His Selfish Heart

After the day when Henry figured out that Irene smelled of lilacs, he often went on walks in the garden between the lilac bushes when he took a break from his ducal duties. He would end up at the graveyard of her ancestors and lean against the wall in silent contemplation for a long time. 

As he stared at the house containing the woman he loved and her family, he felt something strange in his heart. He found another thing that all the power and money he amassed couldn't get him and that was Irene's father's health.

Henry begged for a higher power to heal Arthur. Not only was Irene hurting but Henry had grown fond of the man while staying in his home. In the time he had been there, he watched late summer slowly leave them and the trees surrounding them turn orange like the Litharion's hair.
