It was the worst time to realize his affection for his third in command had gone beyond platonic. 

The next day they were set to practice with a few of Earl Auden's self-appointed knights as well as the knights Henry had brought with him. Of course, he wouldn't be able to avoid Irene considering he had only just told her it hurt him that she had been avoiding him before.

If he could just get through the next couple of days, she would go home with her father and he wouldn't see her for a couple of months. Perhaps then his heart would have a chance to calm down. 

She would certainly hate it if she found that he was having these thoughts behind her back.
