Chapter 8: The Birth of a Mythical Beast

Xi Gu returned home, cradling the dying grey dog.

On the way, through subtle and rhythmic vibrations, Xi Gu massaged the dog, stimulating its circulation.

Although this gentle massage couldn't revive the dog to its prime, it sustained its dwindling breath.

Xi Gu had never learned massage techniques. However, his profound control over force and heightened sensitivity allowed him to instantly gauge the dog's physical condition. By exerting precise minute forces, he activated its remaining vitality, preventing further injury—achieving an almost miraculous effect.

Without glancing downward, he knew the dog had settled into a calm slumber. With steady strides, he quickly reached home.

Xi Gu's residence was in the suburbs of Qingxia City—the city where he attended university.

While Qingxia City was a major urban center, Xi Gu chose this secluded suburban spot, almost devoid of human activity, surveillance cameras, and notably, without internet signals.

Therefore, no fear of being recorded.

Besides, given his agility, perception, and speed, he could easily avoid detection.

Placing the dog on a table at home, he readied for the final experiment.

It boiled down to one step—

Merging the blood, which he meticulously adjusted multiple times to exclude his core ability, retaining only a fragment of his "physical prowess," with the grey dog.

As for the method of fusion, the options were numerous.

Without hesitation, Xi Gu dripped his blood onto the dog's wounds, observing as it seeped in, spread, and transformed the canine.

Simultaneously, he utilized his entire visual prowess, diving down to the nano-level, scrutinizing every cellular shift.

In Xi Gu's eyes, the dog's cells, previously on the brink of exhaustion, surged to life, reminiscent of parched grass rejuvenated by rain; diseased regions were expelled by healthy ones; blood flowed vigorously; vitality amplified; injuries healed; each bodily function celebrated its rebirth…

Using just a droplet of blood…

Xi Gu was astounded.

He was well-aware that this drop, while containing an essence of his "physical prowess," would appear as ordinary human blood under any scrutiny.

Yet, through daily enhancements, daily strengthening of its "connection" with his physical prowess on the Talent Tree, this drop miraculously bore his prowess, a nebulous concept, and indeed transferred this "concept" to another being.

"This outright defies the law of conservation of energy!" Xi Gu mused.

However, he had long been surpassing such principles.

More crucial was his accomplishment.

Before him, the grey dog, now vibrant, muscular, and awake from near-death slumber, stared blankly at Xi Gu.

As he smiled and began to speak, a peculiar intuition arose.

Suddenly, he froze.

"Thank you... for saving me…"

"Master…"

A peculiar voice echoed in Xi Gu's mind.

Master?

Xi Gu blinked, revealing an astonished expression.

He knew where the voice came from, and it was precisely this realization that stunned him even more.

"Could it be... that my blood has created a mythical creature capable of communicating with me?"

Xi Gu and the grey dog gazed at each other, both seemingly in shock.

"Master… did I… do something wrong?"

The tone was tender, struggling.

It sounded like a child, no older than ten.

Yet, just the mere presence of this voice in his mind was already a shock for Xi Gu.

Moreover, this voice reflected human-like intelligence.

But...

Xi Gu felt something amiss.

He realized that the voice in his head wasn't using a human language. Yet, mysteriously, he could comprehend its meaning!

"Is this... telepathy?"

Pondering, Xi Gu mentally asked the grey dog, "Why do you call me 'Master'?"

"Because… I can sense… your aura… the origin of my life… Master…"

The grey dog gazed at Xi Gu with a longing that surpassed a child's. It moved closer, seemingly wanting to lick Xi Gu's right hand.

However, it hesitated, lifting its head, and with its wide, pitch-black eyes, it gave Xi Gu a pitiable look, as if seeking his permission.

Sensing the dog's emotions, Xi Gu understood its intent.

"It's alright. I allow you to come closer."

The dog's eyes brightened, and it joyfully bent its head, licking Xi Gu's right hand, expressing its respect and adoration.

Watching the muscular back of the grey dog, Xi Gu wore a contemplative expression.

Without tapping into his superhuman senses, Xi Gu realized he could perceive the flow of every drop of blood within the grey dog, the strain of each muscle, its emotions, and even the memories stored in its mind.

Though it was only a brief moment of contact, the experience was incredibly profound for Xi Gu.

"Could my 'Evolutionary Blood' have established some kind of soul connection with the dog after strengthening its body?"

"However, this connection seems to be one-sided... I can hear its inner voice, sense its emotions, and access its memories. Yet, it remains oblivious to my own essence, feeling only a longing to be closer to my aura."

"Now, what would happen if I tried to sever this connection?"

Without hesitation, Xi Gu attempted to cut off the subtle connection in his soul. Almost instantly, the grey dog tensed up, pulling away from its affectionate demeanor.

With a swift leap, it jumped back several meters, retreating to the far end of the room.

The dog bared its teeth, displaying a fierce stance towards Xi Gu, yet its face was filled with confusion.

It couldn't understand why, in just a split second, the "master" before it felt so unfamiliar. Although the appearance and aura remained the same, something was amiss...

"Master... Master... Master..."

It called out mentally, much like a child separated from its mother.

As if hearing its plea, a familiar sensation returned to Xi Gu's soul.

"... Yes, I'm here."

The dog immediately ran and leapt to Xi Gu's side, wagging its tail frantically, conveying emotions of joy and confusion.

"Master... You... disappeared..."

"It was a mere mishap."

The dog's eyes made Xi Gu feel a tad embarrassed. He chuckled, changing the subject.

"By the way, now that you've evolved, it's time to test your capabilities."

"Come, show me how powerful you've become."
