Chapter 63: No Dreams, No "B" Count

"I am a bit curious," Adrian looked at Rayleigh's old face. "Haven't you learned the truth already? Why not just tell me directly?"

"...You're not following the script. I've said so much to make you pursue your own dreams and challenges, not to ask me for secrets."

Rayleigh stood up, ready to leave. He realized this young man had no dreams, and the other two - the cat and the girl - seemed to listen to him quite obediently. They probably wouldn't set out to sea on their own.

When Adrian asked that question, Rayleigh knew they couldn't have a meaningful conversation. Other than accepting a job, this trip seemed to be rather fruitless.

While Rayleigh was still around, Adrian asked the question on his mind, "Oh, by the way, you said the weakest in our tavern could defeat a regular Vice Admiral. So, what level do you think I am?"

Rayleigh truly left this time, giving Adrian a meaningful glance. He noticed that this young man not only lacked dreams but also lacked something else.

The retired pirate left without forgetting to pay. Combined with the shipwright's mention that Rayleigh had lost everything gambling, Adrian suspected he might have sold himself to a hapless noble to get money.

Adrian wasn't interested in pirates' dreams. He was still thinking about Rayleigh's gaze as he left when suddenly something struck him. He looked at Rui Mengmeng with disbelief.

"Boss, why are you... looking at me?" Rui Mengmeng appeared timid and weak, lacking any air of a strong individual.

"No worries." Adrian directly asked, "Artoria, is Mengmeng stronger than me?"

Artoria thought for a moment, "Mengmeng's combat skills are far from matching yours, but in terms of physical ability, she is stronger than you and is growing rapidly."

Fine, she starts higher than me and grows faster. It's a sad story. Adrian asked nonchalantly, "How fast is her growth?"

Artoria used a vivid analogy, "Her growth is as fast as her appetite."

"Oh~" So, her physical abilities increased as much as her appetite. Adrian learned a new unit of measurement today – she increased her capacity by three bowls of rice.

"Boss, won't the tavern go bankrupt because of me eating?" Rui Mengmeng blushed. Since she arrived, she had eaten four meals here, each larger than the previous. If Artoria hadn't eaten even more, she would have been too embarrassed to eat at all.

"It's been fine so far. Let's find some side jobs to earn extra money once the 'house flying to the sky' commotion settles down," Adrian said, planning to stir up trouble after the commotion subsided.

"Sure, I'll help!"

"Hope you'll adapt when the time comes."

"Adapt? It won't involve anything illegal, right?" Even with superpowers, Rui Mengmeng still thought like an ordinary person, similar to how Adrian was when he first arrived.

"It's about taking down some criminals, like human traffickers and pirates," Adrian remembered something, "Oh, right. I introduced you to this world's situation earlier, and you said you couldn't remember. Let's continue."

"Sure, go ahead." Rui Mengmeng nodded.

"The laws and law enforcement here aren't very effective, and many villains go unpunished, like those human traffickers..."

Adrian chatted away, giving Rui Mengmeng an idea of being a bit tougher on villains in this world. He ended the topic before she got overwhelmed.

Just a few days ago, he was wrestling with his own problems, and now he was enthusiastically persuading someone else, "Let's go out more these days and explore."

"I'll adapt!" Rui Mengmeng clenched her fist, encouraging herself.

Adrian believed in her adaptability. After all, she was a super warrior who could fight aliens.

As they chatted, they cleaned up the tavern. Tom placed an empty milk bottle outside the tavern door, put a coin in the mailbox, locked the door, and formally ended the day's business.

Adrian didn't give up on himself as "the weakest in the tavern." Instead, he continued to train. With diligence, he would certainly become stronger, at least stronger than Rui Mengmeng.

Isn't he just a second-generation super warrior? Isn't he the one who can fight aliens over three meters tall? Isn't he... Adrian felt a bit sour.

Adrian shook his head, "Tom, ready for a demonstration!"

...

"Even though I saw it a few days ago, I still find it amazing, like something out of a fairy tale." Rui Mengmeng caught a bubble that had inflated and risen from the ground, then released it to float upwards. "And it can even turn into a car."

"Want to give it a try?" Adrian was introducing the bubble car to Rui Mengmeng.

"Can I?" Rui Mengmeng was curious. The bubble car looked just like a floating car from a sci-fi movie.

"Sure, today you can be the driver. It's actually quite similar to riding a bicycle." Adrian placed Tom on the front frame of the car, "Navigation duty goes to you, Tom."

Tom gave a proper salute and then crouched inside the frame, ready to fulfill his duty as an emotionless cat AI.

Adrian and Artoria sat side by side in the back, backs against each other. If they slightly curled up their legs, they could probably endorse a clothing brand.

Rui Mengmeng was a new driver, so the car wobbled a bit as it started. But she quickly got the hang of it and followed Tom's directions. Their first stop was at a vegetable stall.

Tom took out a shopping list, a list longer than his own height, and let it dangle all the way to the ground.

Selecting a pile of vegetables based on the list, the shopkeeper cheerfully weighed and quoted prices. Adrian paid while Rui Mengmeng, under Tom's guidance, checked off items from the list. Then they set off again.

Unable to resist, Rui Mengmeng asked, "Boss, don't you usually bargain when buying things?"

Adrian fell silent for a moment. "Those things already have price tags, you know."

Maybe he would try bargaining at a clothing store, but when it came to supermarkets, he felt awkward bargaining for things with clear price tags.

Those who were strongly assertive might have similar personalities. Just put it back if they're not assertive at all.

"But you'll lose out if you don't bargain at the market," Rui Mengmeng shared her experience, "Why don't you let me handle it?"

Adrian chuckled, "Sure, want a commission?"

"No need, no need." Rui Mengmeng declined. She still felt that she was eating too much and doing too little.

The car started, the passengers secured. Their next stop was the fruit store.

For the rest of their shopping, Tom handled the list, selecting items, Rui Mengmeng haggled, Adrian paid, and Artoria... sampled the food. Each item might not save much, but with their large quantities, it added up to a significant amount.

As Tom checked off items on the long

list, from top to bottom and bottom to top, only one item remained.

Tom licked his lips, his mouth watering. Meow, he wanted to buy fish!
