Chapter 39: All her energy was drained

After a heavy night, Kay lay next to Journee holding her tightly. Journee kept flinching all night with fear. While she would be awake, there was nothing that could faze her but while sleeping her fear would flare up. That's why she slept with her gun under her pillow.

The morning arrived but they were not ready to get up. Journee felt like she was hit by a truck. She groaned and turned to her other side leaving Kay alone. Kay, who had not been able to sleep the whole night due to her flinching and groaning the whole night, got up from the bed and moved to his room. He knew that now she won't be afraid and would sleep peacefully. It was a Sunday, and it was her off day until the DA's office would issue a warrant for her raid.
