In the bustling hospital corridors, Naruto found himself being pulled along, his mind a whirl of confusion. Once he stepped into the medical room, his gaze landed on the Third Hokage, whose grave expression immediately silenced him. This was not the kind of situation Naruto had anticipated.
"Kakashi-sensei," Naruto began hesitantly, the question bubbling in his throat, "What's going on here? Why is Hokage-sama here? And what about Sasuke? Did you secretly teach him the Rasengan too?"
The mention of Sasuke made Kakashi raise an eyebrow, but his expression remained composed. "Naruto, this isn't about that. There's a far more pressing matter we need to address right now. The curse mark on your body—it's critical that Hokage-sama removes it immediately."
Naruto's hand instinctively reached for his collar, pulling it aside to reveal the ominous three tomoe of the Heaven's Curse Seal etched on his skin. His eyes widened as he remembered the events that led to its appearance.
"This… this thing…" Naruto stammered, his voice laced with apprehension.
"Yes, it's exactly as we suspected," Kakashi said gravely. The Third Hokage nodded in agreement, his sharp gaze fixed on the mark.
"Take off your shirt, Naruto," Kakashi instructed firmly. "We need to examine the curse seal more closely to understand how to deal with it effectively."
The request made Naruto take a wary step back, his eyes narrowing with suspicion. "Take off my shirt? Why? What are you two up to?" His gaze darted between Kakashi and the Third Hokage.
Naruto's imagination, fueled by distrust and an overactive mind, painted them in a dubious light. He muttered under his breath, "One's a pervert, and the other is an old geezer. What are they trying to pull here?"
Kakashi facepalmed, exasperated. "Naruto, stop overthinking and take this seriously. If you want to compete in the upcoming Chunin Exams, we must deal with this curse mark now. Otherwise, you'll be disqualified."
The thought of being unable to participate hit Naruto like a lightning bolt. His determination surged as he shouted, "No way! I won't let Sasuke think he's better than me. I'll do whatever it takes to stay in the competition!"
With hurried movements, Naruto tugged off his shirt, revealing his lean yet scarred torso. As he began to unbutton his pants, Kakashi quickly intervened. "Wait! That's not necessary!"
Naruto froze, his hands hovering over his waistband. His face turned crimson with embarrassment and relief. "Thank goodness," he mumbled.
The Third Hokage stepped closer, his expression a mix of focus and concern. "Naruto, this curse seal is no ordinary mark. It's designed not only to harm you but also to disrupt the seal containing the Nine-Tails within you. We must act quickly to neutralize it."
Hearing this, Naruto's apprehension grew. "Wait, does Sasuke have this mark too? What about him? How are you going to fix his situation?"
"Don't worry about Sasuke," Kakashi replied tersely. "I'll handle his case separately. Focus on your own condition right now."
Naruto's face twisted into a frown. "Sasuke, Sasuke, it's always about Sasuke! Why does everyone care so much about him?"
"Enough!" the Third Hokage interjected, his tone commanding. "Concentrate, Naruto. Form the hand seals and channel your chakra. I need to examine the interaction between the curse mark and your chakra flow."
Grumbling under his breath, Naruto complied. He formed the seals, his fingers moving with practiced precision. As he focused, a glowing Eight Trigrams Seal materialized on his abdomen, its intricate patterns shimmering with power.
The Third Hokage studied it intently, his brows furrowed. After a moment, his eyes narrowed. Surrounding the Eight Trigrams Seal was another layer—Orochimaru's Five Elements Seal.
"I see…" the Third Hokage muttered under his breath. "Orochimaru applied this seal to suppress the flow of chakra between the Nine-Tails and Naruto's own reserves. While it isolates the curse mark, it also disrupts the intended balance of the original seal. This could have devastating consequences for Naruto's development."
Kakashi stepped closer, his Sharingan revealed and glowing ominously. "What's the plan, Hokage-sama?"
"We'll use a counter-seal to neutralize Orochimaru's interference," the Third Hokage decided. He raised his hand, chakra glowing at his fingertips in five distinct colors—gold, green, blue, red, and brown, representing the five elements.
"Hold still, Naruto," he instructed.
Before Naruto could respond, the Third Hokage pressed his palm against the curse seal on Naruto's shoulder. "Five Elements Seal!"
Pain shot through Naruto's body, and he cried out as the new seal took shape, encircling the curse mark and cutting off its influence. Exhausted and overwhelmed, Naruto collapsed, only for the Third Hokage to catch him.
"This should stabilize him for now," the Third Hokage said, nodding to Kakashi. "The balance between the seals has been restored. As long as the Nine-Tails doesn't go berserk, the curse mark won't pose a threat."
Kakashi sighed in relief. "Thank you, Hokage-sama. Naruto should be able to compete without issue now."
Meanwhile, in the arena, the next round of the Chunin Exams was about to begin. Moonlight Hayate, the proctor, stood in the center of the battlefield, his voice echoing through the space.
"Next match: Ino Yamanaka versus Sakura Haruno. Begin!"
The tension between the two kunoichi was palpable as they squared off.
"I won't go easy on you, Sakura," Ino declared.
"Who needs your mercy?" Sakura shot back. "I've grown stronger, and today, I'll prove to Sasuke-kun who's truly worthy of his attention!"
Ino's eyes narrowed. "Don't get ahead of yourself, Sakura. Sasuke-kun doesn't belong to you!"
The two charged at each other, their rivalry fueled by jealousy and ambition. From the stands, Sasuke watched with an unreadable expression, his thoughts veiled.
"Women and their endless rivalries," he muttered to himself. "Maybe this is why I've avoided getting involved. Bonds of camaraderie are far less complicated than this nonsense."
