Chapter 6: BAB 6
We finally arrived at the gates of Sobu High School. Staring at the school for the first time, even though I had seen it many times before. This school is one of the top elite schools in Japan.
It is said that the entry requirements are quite high. Those who wanted to be admitted had to score high on the entrance exam or receive a recommendation from a good junior high school.
According to Hachiman's character, Sobu teaches the "Big Five", Japanese, English, Social Sciences (Liberal Arts), Math and Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology). It also has various forms of Art, Sports, Music and Home Economics classes with a total of nine.
Second-year students are asked to fill out a career survey for assistance with their future program choices. Later they will choose Liberal Arts or Sciences to focus on for their third year classes.
Most schools post the exam results on a billboard on the school grounds. Sobu High School does not, instead teachers inform students of their rankings and scores directly (with the exception of entrance exam scores, which are posted on the billboard).
The school is located in Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture. The school building is located near the sea and due to the tides, the wind will change direction around noon.
In the anime Sobu is mentioned to be academically focused and none of his sports teams are very good. However, in this world Sobu is good at both academics and sports.
Sobu High School has 30 classes, 10 for each grade. Each class is represented by a letter from A to J. Class J of each class is an International Curriculum class aimed at nurturing talented students capable of fulfilling an active role at the international level. It consists mostly of those who returned to Japan from overseas or have aspirations to study abroad. Class J's academic standards are 2 to 3 times higher than other classes.
And I was in Class 2 H, and so was Shizuku. We were both in the same class. The school facilities are very complete.
Walking through the schoolyard there were many students who had just arrived. Today is Monday, March 7, 2022. It is quite rare for students to arrive before the bell rings at the beginning of school. Walking through the hallway and finally arrived in front of the classroom.
"Good morning!"
"Good morning, Shizuku!"
"Good morning, Kuroo!"
"Good morning, Tetsuro!"
"Good morning, Yaegashi!"
When we got to the classroom, some classmates were already inside and greeted us both. After saying hello, I immediately sat down on my seat near the window and was second from the end of the row. Meanwhile, Shizuku was in the second row near the door second after the front bench.
And on the next bench was Yuka Sonobe. She was a beautiful woman, just like Shizuku she was also from the anime 'Arifureta Shokugyou de sekai saikyou.' Yuka is a beautiful young woman with shoulder-length wavy chestnut-colored hair. Yuka has a cheerful personality, but can sometimes come across as harsh or assertive. But she is very kind and serious.
The first time the two of them met was during the 10th grade second semester as classmates. Their relationship slowly became close after Kuroo saved a life, when Yuka was about to cross the street without looking. She was almost hit by a car and coincidentally Kuroo who was there quickly saved her. They both survived, but Kuroo's back hit a lamppost and suffered a non-harmful injury.
Kuroo was hospitalized for several weeks. Out of guilt Yuka often visited Kuroo along with his parents. Sometimes they brought him food or fruits. Yuka was traumatized by the near-accident. However, because Kuroo and Yuka met often and talked a lot, the relationship between them became closer and made his trauma slowly fade away.
After recovering Kuroo practiced as usual, thankfully the injury did not make his volleyball and badminton games different. Yuka invited Kuroo to visit her house several times. Yuka's family owned a famous western-style restaurant in Japan "Wisteria". She sometimes helps out as a waitress. Yuka has aspirations to become a chef.
Yuka has a strong will and is eager to make the most of her life since being saved by Kuroo. Although Yuka is not afraid to speak up when needed, she sometimes has trouble expressing her true thoughts especially with regards to her feelings for Kuroo.
"Good morning, Yuka!"
"Good morning too, Kuroo!" Yuka greeted me back with a smile.
"How was your weekend?"
"As usual. I helped my parents at the restaurant. What about you?"
"On the weekends I do indoor training and sparring."
"I see. Ah! I just remembered."
"Mm! Remember what?"
"I brought more food. Would you like to have lunch with me?"
"Ah! If I may. I don't refuse a gift from such a beautiful girl anyway."
"W-wah!!! You're not flirting with me!"
"I'm not flirting with you. I'm seriously saying that you're a beautiful girl."
"Uwahh!! Stop! Stop teasing me!" Yuka turned her face away, there was a blush on her cheeks and her body trembled slightly.
"Hahaha!!!" I laughed.
As I laughed, I felt Shizuku's intense gaze directed at me. I instantly covered my mouth. Suddenly the atmosphere became awkward.
"Yo, good morning, Kuroo and Sonobe too."
Someone appeared and greeted myself and Kuroo. We both turned our heads and saw that it was Kagami Taiga. Our classmate who sat on the bench in front of me. We both returned his greeting.
Taiga Kagami is a character from the anime Kuroko no Basket. His appearance is quite muscular for a high school boy. He's also very tall and gives him an extraordinary aura. Dark red hair and red eyes. Just like in the anime, Taiga is also in the Basketball club.
The encounter that led to us becoming good friends was when I accidentally met him when he was fighting with a street basketball player at the park's basketball court. Since he knew that I went to the same school as him, Taiga invited me to play basketball so that I could compete with the street basketball player and take the court.
I said that I didn't understand the rules of basketball, but he told me something.
"Your body is tall, you just need to stop or block players who want to shoot the ball."
With my ability as a middle blocker, I showed myself successfully blocking the ball shot. Seeing my ability Taiga invited me to join the basketball club. However, I refused because I had already joined the volleyball club.
Even so, the two of us became close friends and often met both at school and outside of school.
