Instead of continuing to speak to him Rye simply looked forward, pretending to not even be aware of his existence.

This was why she was so shocked to suddenly feel a hand graph her left hand, scaring her enough to make her instantly move to jerk her arm back.

"Relax! We're supposed to hold hands," Klas pointed out with his last hand, which was the only reason Rye immediately relaxed, watching Klas tighten his hold on her left hand ever so slightly.

"With how jittery you are, anyone would think that I treat you badly. Have I?" Rye heard Klas ask, moving closer until their arms were touching, with his face turned in her direction instead of him to watch where he was going.

"You treat me as well as you can!" Rye replied, doing her best to calm her nerves.

'Just because he wants to kill them and has committed a massacre in the past has absolutely nothing to do with me,' Rye told herself.
