The small town offered limited lodging options, but Rong Nian didn't mind; he sat by the window, gazing into the particularly profound night outside.
Jiang Yuan was bustling about, boiling a pot of water, and poured a cup for Rong Nian before handing it to him.
"Boss, have some water, your lips are all cracked," Jiang Yuan said as he looked at Rong Nian, feeling inexplicably distressed.
He was very worried about Rong Nian's reaction back at the city wall.
Rong Nian took the cup, with steam swirling from it; his eyes and brow looked somewhat desolate.
"Sit down and rest for a bit; you've been on the move all day," Rong Nian said faintly.
Jiang Yuan sat down by the bed, followed Rong Nian's gaze out the window, "Boss, do you have any recollection of this place?"
Rong Nian shook his head. "Not much of an impression."
Jiang Yuan turned back to look at him, his question tinged with hesitation, "Back at the city wall, did you remember something?"
