"What kind of medication?" Adam narrowed his eyes, "… remember that I know of that one past where you gave me the mix of beer, wine, and whisky."
Eve threw her head back laughing at that memory, swishing the medicine around. She felt Adam turn over so his chest was to hers, as she lifted a bit so she wasn't thrown over with the medicine.
Straddling his lap as he sat up, she returned the medicine bottle to where she kept it safe and watched the man before her. His hands were warm on her hips and his eyes stared at her as if he were to eat her. Her body tingled at the thought as she curled her lips.
"I promise you this would make you heal faster; don't you trust me?" she questioned using her finger to drag lightly against the side of his neck down to his chest.
"You doing this makes me question your motive," Adam's hands tightened on her hips and she kissed his cheek.
"It won't kill you," she said seriously with a tone of someone who had seen many tragedies, "I would never want that."
Adam's lips curled to a smile and he let out a sigh, "Alright. Come on. Feed it to me my beautiful wife."
Eve felt her face flush down her neck.
"Adam!" she punched his chest softly, "I am not your wife…"
"Not in this lifetime," he grinned and wrapped his arms around her, "Yet."
She had a coy smile on her red lips as he leaned in kissing her neck. Closing her eyes to enjoy his lips leaving trails of blazing flames, she let out a sigh through her smile. A nip against the pulse on her neck caused a moan to escape her lips. She pressed her chest against his; she loved when he nipped there, especially when he bites causing both to-
"Wait. Babe," she pushed his shoulder gently and he pulled back to lay a kiss on her cheek.
Adam saw the redness over her perfectly sculpted cheeks and powdered over the tip of her nose. Her lips, cherry red, was parted as Eve breathed to calm herself.
'Good,' he found himself grinning ear to ear as he let out an amused laugh.
He felt the bowl pressed to his lips and he reached for it, but Eve shook her head smiling.
"Let me do it," she said in that soft velvety voice and all he could do was agree.
He opened his lips as she tilted the bowl; the medicine slid in, tasting of iron and chalk. Not wanting to show Eve that he wanted to gag from it, he swallowed the entire medicine. When he was done, Eve removed the bowl from his lips. Feeling some of the liquid slipped his mouth and was now sliding down his lips, he lifted his hand to wipe it. His hand froze in the air as Eve licked the trail instead.
Her wet tongue licked the corner of his lips down to where the medicine was rolling down to his jawline. He felt her nibbles moving up to his ear. He let out a groan when she bit gently on his earlobe, teasingly, playfully. His hands moved down to hold her ass and he heard the giggling against his ear.
"Eve," Adam pulled back to see her eyes with mirth, as her chest bounced with soft laughter.
Cupping her face in his palms, he just stared at her caramel colored eyes, tinted in gold. She closed her eyes and he watched the long dark lashes fanned out above her perfectly sculpted cheeks. He could hear her humming softly as the light vibration tickled his palms.
"Eve," he whispered like a breath against the wind. He watched as those lashes lift to reveal those eyes that saw too many, held too many pains.
"Why me?" He questioned because he had always been curious. Ever since he knew the truth and confronted her, he still does not know why it was him. What was so special with him? Even if he took her hand… that couldn't be the only reason.
"Adam," she let out a sigh, "Did you not ask me this before?"
"I just don't get it," he dropped his touch on her face to land at his sides.
Eve watched him for a moment, before lifting his hands and kissing the back of each one.
"The day I fell in love with you," she smiled against his hands, "… was the first time you died."
The first time Adam died; Eve was so angry with herself then, even now as the memory assaulted her.
"Eve," the sound of a twelve-year-old boy- with brown chestnut hair- called out, "… do you remember that apple tree?"
Eve nodded as she continued to read the book the cultists had given her. The large book was filled with information on demons and angels; the history and detailed information of each being, were written on the pages she needed to memorize.
"Let's go look," Adam had reached for her arm and she was pulled up.
The book laid on the ground as he pulled her to the tree producing apples. She looked at his hold on her and she felt the blossoming of happiness grew within her. Daydreaming, she didn't realize they had arrived until Adam removed his hold.
"Look! See!" He pointed to the red fruit hanging brightly, asking to be picked.
She nodded with a smile and reached for it.
Her fingers smoothed over the skin as she picked the apple and pulled. She offered it to the boy who was staring at her. Smiling, she waved the apple before him and he flustered.
"You eat it first," he stammered as his cheeks reddened on pale skin.
Letting out a smile, she placed the apple against her lips and bit into it. The juice spilled down her chin as Eve chewed the piece in her mouth. Using the back of her hand to wipe the juice, she held out the apple to him. He grinned and took the apple.
Biting into it, he hummed as he chewed.
The hum halted abruptly as he launched into a coughing fit. Eve felt her eyes widened and tried to help him. Hitting his back and even trying to command the piece lodged in his throat to release him. Nothing worked and she watched as they fell to their knees. He was clutching her shirt and gasping, but she couldn't see him. It was so hard to see with the tears blocking her view.
The screaming could be heard miles away as footsteps entered where she was. Yet, she could not hear a thing beside the heart wrenching scream of his name. The boy that did not care if she was a demon; the boy that did not care she did not speak; the boy that she cares deeply for.
The name Adam echoed for years near the dying apple tree.
