50% I Love My Angel, Forever Your Demon Queen / Chapter 47: Special

Chapter 47: Special

His breathing was irregular and there was a prickling against his eyes. Shutting it quickly, he took a deep breath and stomped away. Away from his flirtatious brother, away from the way his heart was hurting, away from the pain he was feeling.

'Stupid,' Gabriel told himself.

Why was he feeling this way? He should never feel… jealous? Envious? He doesn't like this feeling.

"I want to call you Gabby," his brother stated stubbornly, breaking him from his thoughts.

"I don't want you to."

"Why? Give me a good reason."

"If I say to stop, you should."

"You never had an issue before."

"I am too old for nicknames. Besides, you have plenty of nicknames for others. I'm sure they don't care, but I don't want mine."

"Wait, what? You aren't making sense Gabby."

"I told you to stop calling me that!"

"No."

"Lucifer you stubborn mule!" Gabriel stood up with fisted hands and a scowl on his face, "Why does it have to be on your term all the time! I am sick and tired of it!"

Face redden from anger and brows dipped to create a V, the kind angel just wanted his brother to listen, just do what he asked for this one time! His words kept flowing out like a broken dam.

"You go places and I follow. You do things and I follow. I tell you to stop or to not do that or to do something else, but every SINGLE TIME you don't listen. You would always ignore me and use me like I am nothing but a tool for you! I am your brother! I… I let you call me Gabby because you called me that. I don't let anyone else call me it. But you- You call others nicknames too so easily. I thought… I…"

Gabriel realized that he was making no sense. Eyes widening, he found himself feeling ridiculous; the words he was just spewing was childish and there really was no reason to be angry at his brother. Lucifer could do anything he wanted. Who was he to tell him who he could be friendly and give nicknames to? He wanted to laugh at the scene. His brother must think he was being stupid. This thought made his face flush from embarrassment.

"Oh Gabby," his brother let out a soft laugh as he clasped his face in his hands.

He felt the thumbs swiping the tears that had fell during his breakdown and he looked away biting his lips. He soon felt the comfort of his brother's arms around him, as he was pulled into a hug. Lucifer rubbed his back and the brown-haired angel closed his eyes. What a nice comfort.

"Sorry," his apology muffled against the robe of his brother's shoulder.

"Why don't you give me a nickname too?" He heard Lucifer question, like an offer.

"Like Lucy," Gabriel frowned pulling away to face those honey eyes.

"Lucy?" The pretty angel questioned for a moment before his eyes lit up, "Ah! Now I get it!"

"You heard me speaking with Maybel, right?" Lucifer questioned to see the frown deepened on the young angel's face, "I get it," he laughed light and bright, "I promise the only one who can give me a nickname is you."

Green eyes widened.

"What?" Gabriel whispered surprised.

"Gabby," the favored angel placed his hands on his thin shoulders, "I will call you Gabby and you can call me Lucy. We are the only ones who can call each other like that. If someone tries to call me by something else than Lucifer, then I will tell them not to. Okay?"

Gabriel could not believe his brother was promising this. Was he… was he seriously saying that they are the only ones who can give one another nicknames and… no one else can? His heart fluttered understanding that this was special just for them. Fighting the smile that was soon to bloom on his face, he pursed his lips.

"I don't want to call you Lucy."

"Then what do you want to call me?"

He let his smile grow on his face erasing the darkness, as he let out a laugh.

"Lulu."

The fingernails removed itself from his skin and the hand pulled back. Body still pressed against him, but the hand holding his wrists was removed. When he opened his eyes, he was staring at those beautiful bright eyes again. He felt his body relaxed as his lips curl into a smile.

"Haven't heard you call me that in a long time," those honey eyes searched his face.

"That's because I know how much you hate it."

The man above him fell against him and he groaned from the heaviness. He could feel the breathing against his neck and his arms came to wrap around the naked body.

"Are you hurt?" His brother whispered against his skin.

He could feel the fluttering of those long dark lashes and it made him ticklish. Was he hurt? Was Lucifer asking if he was hurt from him falling on his chest? Was he asking if Gabriel was hurt that he died? Was his brother asking if he was hurt that he watched him fall from Heaven? Was he hurt from the pain against his neck?

"No… not anymore," Gabriel let out a wet laugh as he tightened his hold, as if his brother would disappear if he let go.

His brother was alive! He didn't have to watch him die, watch him fall again. He heard the soft snore against his skin and closed his eyes.
