Gabriel stood where he was and watched Adam tirelessly trying to wake his lover. Closing his eyes, Gabriel had an idea of what occurred and the sacrifice that had been done.
'Goodbye my brother,' he took a deep breath and let it out as he opened his eyes once more.
"Adam, we must go to her place," he called out, "We must hurry."
Adam did not hesitate and picked up Eve into his arms and rushed out of the safety behind the waterfall. Spreading his wings, he waited for Gabriel to take flight and he followed. Holding the female close to his chest, Adam felt his blood boiling. Whoever hurt her would pay!
They landed before the coal-like cathedral and rushed in.
"Lay her here," Gabriel instructed and he followed placing her gently on the grounds of the altar.
"High level demons have healing attributions," Gabriel stated, "Help me undress her. We need to see the extent of her injuries."
Adam did as he was told.
"She is under a deep sleep," Gabriel murmured as he took note of the exposed injuries.
"How do you know?" Adam questioned staring at Eve's face for any sign; she looked like an abused doll.
"Lucifer once used it on me," he heard the elder say, "Said I worry too much and needed to sleep."
"Her father?" Adam held onto Eve's hand as he looked at Gabriel.
"Adam," Gabriel stated in a serious tone, "The agreement at the lake, do you remember?"
"Yes."
"It was a lie."
"What?" Adam found his eyes narrowing.
"The weapon created to kill her had already been made, it just needed resourced to create more ammunition."
Adam scowled hearing this from Gabriel, the honest angel.
"I did not know; I assure you brother."
"But you were sent to speak with her about a proposition! Was this not it!"
"The one our Father told me was to offer time to return you. He did not speak of a weapon."
"But you told Eve 100 years."
"I did," Gabriel nodded, "I assumed that weapon used against her father was destroyed like I was told."
Adam took in that information and realized that Gabriel, loyal and kind, was being played as a pawn as well. Nodding his head, he glanced at Eve who's relaxed face did not ease the worry gnawing in his heart.
"I will do my best to heal her," Gabriel placed one hand on her forehead and the other on her stomach, "I need you to listen carefully."
Adam nodded.
"Once I finish healing her, you must disrobe and leave everything that was our Father's on you. Leave immediately to a place that has no significance to either one of you," Gabriel explained.
"Will you not join us? To find her father?" Adam questioned and saw the tension of skin around the elder's eyes, "Will He not find me?"
"Only if they are near. You would sense them too," Gabriel paused, "Do you understand what I have just told you?"
Adam hesitated for a second before nodding with assertion. This was what needed to happen then.
Gabriel nodded as he finished his checkup of the injured female diligently and placed his hand on her forehead and stomach. Adam started stripping as Gabriel's palms glow with the power of God. He watched the elder angel light up in gold as Gabriel closed his eyes.
The bruises on Eve's body were fading and the sound of bones being replaced sounded in the quiet space. Skins were stitching itself back together leaving a barely visible scar. Eve looked as though she was sleeping peacefully.
Gabriel's power faded and he opened his eyes to witness Adam, bare as the day he was born. He nodded to the young angel. Adam lifted Eve, also naked, in his arms and took off out of the cathedral. When he knew the young angel was not going to return through those large foreboding doors, he let his shoulders sank. Panting as sweat rolled down his forehead, he closed his eyes trying to control his breathing.
The sound of footsteps neared him and he exhaled deeply and stood. Fixing his robe, he looked to the figure who waited for his attention.
"Brother," Gabriel said flatly.
"Gabriel," the angel stated, "You have betrayed us. You have gone against our Father."
"What Father is doing is not right," Gabriel thinned his lips, "What he asks of you is not right."
The guest laughed and shrugged his shoulders, "It is what I must do. God is right and just. He has no flaws."
"I know," the loyal angel sighed.
"It will still end the same brother, it always does," the other angel stated and Gabriel found anger touching his heart.
"It is not! Lucifer is dead," Gabriel shouted before calming down, "It is not the same."
"I see," the angel said after a moment contemplation on his face, "Return home brother. Father wish to speak with you."
"I'm sure he does," Gabriel walked forward and paused when he was parallel to his brother, shoulder to shoulder faced in the opposite directions, "Death will come to us sooner or later Raphael. She will not forgive this time."
Raphael, the angel who worked in the shadows, felt a smile tugging his lips.
He was not afraid of death.
Death was inevitable after all.
Another angel, another reveal, another chapter!
