Chapter 4: Father

Eve returned to that space, the space where she demolished the cathedral. Narrowing her eyes, she continued her steps to the middle where the statue once hung. Walls and doors materialized as she turned to face the closing of the doors.

Sitting down, the golden chair awaited her rest.

"A change of clothes for you perhaps?" Eve questioned turning toward the man.

"You do not honor me with death; what is it that you want?" the man gritted out and Eve walked over to him.

"I want my lover's return," she held his face, "I miss him dearly."

Azrael felt her lips so close to his that if he so much as breathed, they would touch.

Eve pulled away and released her hold.

"How do you not know angel?" she stood tilting her head, "You are the angel of death and retribution, or was that a lie."

Thinning his lips and narrowing his eyes, he did not reply. He didn't have the answer to it. He should have been able to sense death, but he was blocked from knowing. Why was that?

"If he loves you, he would agree to an exchange," Eve grabbed his sword and placed it against his neck.

The chains rattled as he moved away from the blade.

"Go on," she grinned, "Call to him. Call to your creator."

Azrael did not move or utter a word. The blade pricked his skin and a sliver of blood slipped out gracing the shine of the edge.

Glaring at the beauty before him, he would not give into her demands. She let out a soft laugh and pressed harder.

"Stop, please," a voice spoke up and they both looked at their audience.

There stood another angel with a dagger in it's pouch and furrowed brows.

"And why should I angel?" Eve questioned pushing the sword forward.

"Be… because I can help you!" the angel shouted moving forward.

"Go on," Eve kept her eyes on Azrael who continued to glare at her.

"If you let him go, I will tell you where you can find him, the one you love," the angel explained.

"Tempting," Eve could see the power within Azrael and she grinned, "How can I trust you?"

"But, you can! I am-" the angel started.

"Zadkiel, angel of freedom and mercy," Eve quirked a brow, "I know who you are. My question is still the same."

She trailed the blade lightly against his neck and Zadkiel gasped running toward them, but halted when the blade was pointed toward him.

"Why don't you tell me where he is first? After all, I cannot trust any of his children," Eve stated as she pulled the sword to her lips. Licking the blood, she hummed satisfied and the look on the young angel's face made her grin.

"He is… he is not with us," Zadkiel admitted, "He is with…" he paused for a moment and looked straight into her eyes, "… your father. He is with him."

Eve stared for a moment before she laughed and laughed and laughed.

"My father?" Eve dropped the sword and stalked over to the young angel, "What reason would he have for-"

She stopped herself as her lips pursed.

Of course.

"Are you certain?" Eve questioned Zadkiel, "If you are fibbing, do not think I have no way of reaching you."

"Yes," he nodded.

"Hm…" Eve tapped her chin, "Okay."

Eve was walking out of the chapel, but turned to the angels.

"Be a dear and stay here, won't you?" she smiled as the same cuffs and chains on Azrael formed its way onto Zadkiel's body.

"Wha… wait," Zadkiel cried out.

"Don't bother calling on your angel powers, Azrael learned that the hard way," Eve grinned and left the angels.

Her father, huh? Time to say hello then. Opening her wings, she flew to the cliff overlooking what little greeneries were left.

"Father," she called out, "We need to speak."

Closing her eyes, she stood staring at the sky.

So many deaths and none of them replaced the desolate space in her heart. Did her father really have her lover's soul?

"You should look down more often," a voice spoke up and she turned to him.

Beautiful he was with his silky dark hair and golden eyes. Lean was his physique with that million-dollar smile.

"Why should I do that?" Eve crossed her arms.

"It is your home after all," the man laughed and walked closer.

"I have no home," Eve ran her fingers through her long dark tresses.

"Oh my dear," he grinned and held her face, "Then create one," he ran his thumb over the symbol – his symbol – on her forehead, "And destroy it all again."

"So you can spite him," Eve narrowed her eyes, "I am tired of being your pet."

That hand, soft against her face earlier was now pressed against her neck.

"You are mine, child," the man's eyes turned black as his teeth sharpened, "It is best to remember that!"

"Trust me, I have never forgotten," Eve grabbed the wrist of the man's and twisted it.

The man pulled away with a growl and Eve stared at him coldly. Her skin burned from where the symbols were placed as it glowed and her eyes darkened.

"I am more than just you father," she glared, "It is best to remember that."

Her father threw his head back and laughed.

"You certainly are my child," he grinned and looked her up and down, "Certainly received my beauty."

Thinning her lips, she wondered what her father was doing before her. Was he bored of Hell that he must come toy with her?

"Yet I do not play the minds of people," Eve narrowed her eyes, "I find no worth in it."

Her father grinned clear across his face.

"Cause you have not tried," her father laughed softly, "Oh the sins humans have."

Eve said nothing.

"Tell me father, do you have his soul," she narrowed her eyes at her father as she crossed her arms.

"Who's?" her father looked at her innocently, but she wasn't fooled.

"Adam," she walked toward her father, "Bring him back."

Her father didn't say anything and stared at her.

"I have done what you wanted! Give him back to me, father," Eve fisted her hands, "What more do you want from me!"

"Not enough," her father glared at her.

Eve's eyes went dark and she stared at her father. He wavered but stood his ground with his eyes dark.

"I am through playing your games," she gritted out as the dust blew up around them, "Bring him back or I will take him by force."

"Fine," her father smirked, "Then let us settle this then."
