Chapter 78: Fallback

He pulled off his shirt and began scratching up his chest, hoping to pull his soul right out to return to his lover. Blood covered his nails, but he didn't care for the pain. Nothing was more painful than watching someone you love die before you. He wasn't going to let her go. She can't go!

'She can't leave me! I won't let you!' He told himself as he continued to scratch up his chest.

"Stop!" He heard, but he wasn't listening. He had to get it out! Her soul needed to return to Eve so she can wake up. But hands pulled his away from his chest and he fought it. He was in a haze; he felt pain against his cheeks, but it didn't even register as his fingers went back to trying to rip his chest open.

"Mommy," that small voice woke him up from his haze, as his blue eyes saw the child curled up at Eve's side. Arms wrapped around the cold corpse, Little fire hiccupped and cried against the once warmed comfort.
