Chapter 60: Discuss

Tap. Tap. Tap.

She just stared straight faced at the grey demon, causing the Lord of Lies to look away and around the table. Those around them were causally eating and ignoring their conversation, as if it was a normal occurrence. Maybe it was, but the King of Hell had never questioned him to the extent his kin was doing. Feeling sweat building up at his scalp where thin wisps of gray hair hung, he tried not to wipe his hand over it.

"My father had spoken highly of you, Lord of Lies," the female demon continued her tapping, "Says you had brought many to their knees, begged you, listened to you," he watched as the Queen of Hell used one finger to tap instead of her four, "He said you deserved to be a Lord due to your faithfulness to him."

"Y… yes. I have done much for your father; I also owe him much," the grey demon stuttered out.

"Hm…" he watched her long hair slipped over her bare shoulder, "You wish to retire."

It was a statement that caught him by surprised because it was true. He had reigned that realm for centuries and tire of the routine. He wanted to return to the surface and use what he knows best- trickery and lies. However, being a Lord, he was unable to leave his realm and play. Though he had done much and created a useful realm for the souls of wickedness, he yearned to breathe fresh souls.

He looked at the female demon with his dark eyes and nodded. He was certain she could tell if he was lying... to be honest, no one knows what type of power this female possessed. He was not going to find out.

"Is your realm truly unredeemable?" She questioned him as her lips curl slightly.

"It is not in the best of shapes; it would take a long time before it is recovered," the old demon explained to see her nodding.

"I will speak with my father, Belphegor," she stopped her tapping, "We are low in demons and souls. I am sure he will understand to have you on the surface is more useful than as a Lord."

"Oh! Thank you, my queen," the once Lord of Lies bowed multiple times in thanks, "I shall bring plenty to fill all realms."

Eve nodded and turned to the blue water demon, "Leviathan, and you?"

"I welcome your help, my queen," he bowed, "The only issue is the lack of water in my realm. The souls and demons there are significantly less by 70%. I was able to protect the rest from Samael when he showed up with others."

"Well done," she complimented and let out a sigh, "That traitor had mess up the realms of Hell. He should be punished some more, wouldn't you say?"

There was a sparkle in her honey eyes that only shimmered brighter when both Lord of Hells agreed. She grinned and stood up.

"Let me show you where he is."

As they followed her into the palace, she found herself laughing for what was to come to the demon who not only betrayed them, but destroyed the very home they lived in.

'Oh Samael, you stupid pathetic shit,' she felt her whole body giddy with anticipation, 'When they say karma is a bitch, they weren't lying.'

Meanwhile in Heaven:

A week had passed and all he achieved was fighting the urge to find his lover. Being around his brother Gabriel, he felt himself releasing the depressed state he was in. Adam had stayed close to the kind angel, and though his brothers would like to speak with Gabriel alone, the blonde did not let them. He knew they would still question the brunette, even after seeing the memories from the Pool of Enlightenment.

Like a bodyguard for his kind brother, he would intercept and stand with his blue eyes hardened. The brunette angel did not get upset or even told him to stop. This only gave encouragement for Adam to continue. From last they spoke, he knew there were things his brother was unable to say. The way his brother would answer his questions without truly answering it was telling.

When he had asked if his brother had met Eve by chance again, Gabriel did not outright told him "yes". Instead, he told the blonde to be strong because she was also strong. This just told him that she was alive and it was all that mattered to him. If… if she didn't ever want to be with him, then he was fine with that. He broke her trust and hurt her in a way that he don't ever want to be forgiven for.

"Brother," Gabriel had called out breaking his train of thought, "Mankind is healing slower than they normally would," the brunette explained, "Do you think father will find a solution?"

"Many have perished during the war," his blue eyes looked to green ones.

"I know," the angel sighed looking at the waterfall- a replica of the one on the surface, "However, time in their realm moves faster. There should be at least 2 thousand humans by now, but only 500 occupy it."

The blonde looked at the gifted sword on his lap and sighed.

"Do you have a plan? Do you think demons are at fault?" He questioned his brother.

"No," Gabriel shook his head as he stood by the window, "I don't think they could afford sending demons to the surface."

'They,' Adam caught the slip and felt his lips stretched into a smile.

"I am sure father would figure something out," the brunette continued, "I would like to offer a solution, but I feel father would not be willing to accept it."

"What would that be?" The flightless angel questioned curious with his head tilted to the side.

Green eyes turned to stare at blue ones for a moment. A slight hesitation in what Gabriel wanted to say, as he opened his mouth before pursing it. It had been one week and the human world seemed to be worse. He wondered if it was due to lack of preparation from their part. The war was too sudden, and the underhandedness were unexpected. This was too different.

He walked over to sit on the bed with his legs crossed facing his brother. The brunette had seen his father a couple of times to see He was more distraught then he let on. Maybe… this was the perfect timing to… to work things out between both Heaven and Hell. Maybe Adam would be able to reunite with his lover and maybe… maybe he would be able to see his former brother again.

"Adam," he started and tried to rearrange his words correctly, "It is no lie that both Heaven and Hell had suffered, which caused many deaths not just angels and demons, but also humans."

He watched the blonde nod slowly.

"Father is able to create many humans with his power; he had already sent that woman down to live as a human," Gabriel knew his brother understood who that "woman" he spoke of was, "However, his powers are also needed in the healing pool where our brothers and sisters are still healing."

"Does he not have enough power?" Adam questioned with thinned lips and furrowed brows.
