Chapter 12: Complication

Eve felt the cold fire licking her skin as she walked to the castle that housed her father. Large and embodying Hell itself, Eve walked through the door that the lowlings pushed open for her. The creaking of the door gave way to her entrance as her father looked over to her.

He looked as royal as a King of Hell would: eyes as sharp as a predator; silver tongue light in his mouth as he convinced others to obey him; his body posture- relaxed, yet alert at the drop of a dime.

"Daughter, you've returned," her father greeted her with a grin as he waved the demons away.

"I have," she nodded as she looked at the succubus on his lap.

'A different one,' she noticed and wondered, 'Geez, how many are there striving to get a taste of him?'

"We would need to talk, father," she quirked her brow, "Alone."

She heard the 'tch' from the succubus before seeing her nuzzling against her father's chest, as if to merge inside of him.

Her father nodded and stood up pulling the demon off him. When said demon complained, her father back handed her for disobedience. Eve blinked in surprised to witness it firsthand a small punishment her father took.

She followed her father to the room she felt most comfortable in, the room with human belongings and vibrancy. The room that doesn't smell of death.

"So tell me, how it went?" her father, now in his human skin, asked her as he causally sat crossing his legs.

"He died," she stated crossing her arms as she watched her father's reaction, "Someone killed him before he could do what I suggested."

Her father blinked that in as he frowned.

"Did you find out who killed him?" his tone shifted into the one he used when he was on the throne: deep, dark, and demanding.

"I saw a glimpse before he escaped," Eve admitted narrowing her eyes, "I saw a white robe with golden trims, like that of an angel."

"What!" Her father's human nails turned into claws as he gripped the arm of the couch, "An angel!"

"Yes."

"And you couldn't manage to stop him?" her father's eyes blackened as he looked at her suspiciously.

"You think I just let him go?" she looked at him incredulously, "What reason would I have for that?!"

Her father's claws tapped the upholstery every second in the quiet room.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

"That angel was there, wasn't he," he looked at her with a blank face, "He must be involved."

Tap. Tap. Tap.

"No. I was with him when it happened," she stated firmly.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

"And if that was the plan?" her father stood up retracting his claws.

"Father," she glared at him as she crossed her arms tighter over her chest, "I know what you are doing."

"Then stop being a fool!" he shouted, and she felt as if the room shook by the force… or was it her?

"I will not be swayed," she announced with her chin high and left back to the surface where Adam would be.

Where her home was.

Meanwhile a purple demon laid in wait inside the darkness of the cavern for the other party to arrive. His tail, as thick as a dragon and long as a snake, swished back and forth in anticipation for his plan to come to fruition.

His nose tickled with the sign of another scent in the damp cave. Turning to the smell, he saw his guest walking into the entrance with no fear of who or what he was. Grinning and showing teeth, he found himself intrigued with this figure for quite some time.

Whoever this angel was or his purpose, he did not care. All he cared about was what he would gain one this was over. All of Hell would be his once more.

"Do you have what I need?" the demon spoke up in human tongue- the only communication they could use.

The angel tossed a pouch no bigger than his pinky at him; it looked like a piece of gravel in the palm of his hand. Glancing at the angel in white, he stood to his full height towering and engulfing the angel if he wanted to.

In turn, the purple skinned demon tossed his own pouch at the angel who caught it. The bag was bigger that the one the angel gave, but it held what was asked.

The horns of Vetis – demon of corruption, the eyes of Belial – demon of wickedness and guilt, and the head of Adramelech – demon of fire.

Why the angel asked for these items made him curious, but he, Samael, is the demon of death! He does not care what they do with this item if he got his reward!

Tearing open the small bag, he could hear the souls of the ones who were too bright for Hell. The bright gold of them looks like orbs as they floated ready for him to devour. Opening his mouth, he stuck his tongue out to taste his meals.

Moaning from the luxurious meal, he gulped them down impatiently afraid they'd run off. Licking his lips, he looked at the angel and grinned wide. Soon, he would have all the souls he wanted!

The angel gave a curt bow and left the cavern and so did Samael.
