Chapter 16: Spending the Night Together

'That little Fae knew about the Esme Game, and seemed to be able to travel between dimensions.'

Yes, Alastor was sure that what he saw was not something as simple as teleportation magic. He was unable to feel any type of mana flowing through the air.

'Faes are spiritual creatures, according to the books in the library, they were extinct. Perhaps they had actually immigrated to another Realm?'

If that was true, it would make much more sense. In addition to it, their knowledge about this game that was going to start soon should be more than enough.

"Now… Am I going to need to learn how to hunt Faes, perhaps?"

Alastor chuckled lightly and started to meditate again, Evan had just left the room after probably being frustrated to half death due to him.

'Let's spend the rest of the night calmly.'

That was the plan, at least.

His door flung open as a pair of gleaming orange orbs gazed directly at him, "Alastor!"

Vian stood in front of him with a wide grin, she was immediately slapped with his scent so she took a step back, trying to be as clear headed as possible.

She twirled a strand of her white hair, waiting for Alastor to respond to her as she realized he was meditating. Her curiosity was getting the best of her once he took a long time to give any reaction.

'What is he doing? Trying to create another circle?'

Almost wanting to inspect his body by herself, Vian realized that she was not as calm as she thought. She sat down, crossed her legs, and started to meditate.

Alastor nodded in satisfaction internally, that was good, the girl started to act more natural toward him. That was step one.

What was the use of a pown that could not even think for themselves?

If she was only brainless around him, that would create a lot of potential trouble in the future and Alastor needed her to be able to take care of herself.

After a few hours, he felt the fifth Circle in his body finally becoming stable, allowing him to open his eyes.

In front of him sat Vian, who had her hair tied in a messy bun. Her eyes were closed, hiding her flaming irises as she continued to gather Fire Mana inside her body, she was slowly sucking the mana in and making it her own.

'That is an astounding speed, no matter how I look at it.'

No wonder she was almost reaching Class 1. She was a true genius, although she arrived pretty late so she also needed to go through the Trials Tournament.

Thinking about that pleased Alastor, having her as an ally by then was surely going to be only beneficial to him.

Vian soon blinked and opened her eyes, her attempt to break through had failed, but there was no critical damage. Just some dizziness.

'Urgh, I feel like throwing up…' she whined internally, holding her head with her hands.

The surprising cold arms that wrapped around her made her pause, then she soon relaxed, although not fully.

Alastor was holding her and guiding her gently to sit on the small couch in the middle of the room. In front of the couch, there was a simple tea table.

The room was so empty before, so Alastor needed to change that. Due to all of his unexpected visitors lately.

There was no one trusted enough to know the secret of this room, after all.

"Hey, I did what you wanted. You heard?"

"Yes, the news has spread pretty fast, if I may say that. Although, I must say, your choice was a pleasant surprise."

Eyes shining gleefully, Vian nodded, "Yes! I knew you would like a match like that, I could smell it!"

After saying that, she covered her mouth shyly, then cleared her throat under Alastor's amused gaze.

"Ahem, I meant I could tell… Hehe?"

"You do not need to be so careful with your words, Vian," Alastor surprised her, "You can just be natural with me. Getting used to your adorable quirks does not seem to be a tiring job."

Those mere words made Vian tearful. Even at home, people told her to keep her nose out of their business. Her unique phrases and quirks as Alastor called them were always frowned upon.

Her life as a noble had restricted her unique abilities a lot. And somehow, she had gotten some foreign acceptance from this guy she had met recently.

Although she knew most of her desires towards him were only because of how his scent worked on her, Vian was feeling she may eventually have more than that toward the devilish man.

They spent a few more hours chatting, getting to know each other more, making their relationship more familiar.

But something made the conversation tense again.

"Arisa is really coming here and for what? She doesn't even deserve that place in class 2!"

"Oh?" tilting his head, Alastor asked with interest.

"Ah. Do you perhaps not know? Arisa, the third Princess, actually tried to fight with me over Alexander!" a hint of mockery gleamed in her eyes, she was apparently too pleased with the results.

"You mean your Partner Phoenix? I thought your father would not allow anyone but his family to try bonding with the phoenix's egg."

Alastor was smoothly extracting any information that may be needed in future.

"Oh, don't get me started."

Vian rolled her eyes before starting to rant, "Dad was forced to allow that Princess. After all, she was a part of the imperial family. Refusal there would have given them the chance to destroy us."

She gritted her teeth.

"It was absolutely unfair how my father had risked his life to get that egg, yet was almost forced to hand it to some haughty, useless princess!"

"However, you seem to be the final winner," mumbled Alastor while patting her shoulder.

"Of course I did," she sighed, "But at what cost?"
