Chapter 35: Aftermath

"Qarc." As the lizardman troop made their way past the river and up the mountain, Zysera soon noticed her son bandaged with a broken arm while still attending to others.

"Hm?" Hearing the familiar voice, surprise gripped his heart, forcing him to abruptly look down the slope.

"Mother?" His eyes widened. They had waited for so long for her to get back… finally, she was here.

"Village chief."

"Chief."

The lizardmen, too, soon noticed her and rushed forward to kneel before her, a show of respect and joy. They were happy she had come back right on time.

"What happened here?" Zysera asked with a look of confusion and caution. The encampment was utterly destroyed, and the people decimated. Did they get attacked?

"Aiii, the humans attacked; we just defended ourselves." Qarc, with one knee on the ground, raised his head up and explained.
