I walk into my room and numbly sit on my bed. There's no way Darren was flirting with me. I don't believe it. Should I text him?
I fall back onto my bed and stare at the ceiling. My mind was numb and empty, but warm and racing. I couldn't make sense of anything. I wanted to take action, but I wanted to hide. Maybe I should just sleep this off. Sleep makes the problems go away. Temporarily at least. I felt tears gathering in my eyes as I nodded off to sleep.
"Mommy! Mommy! Look at what Daddy and I found!" A little girl with black finger curls, tanned brown skin, shining light brown eyes. She wore a gray wool sweater with a hoodie, light blue ripped jeans, and little boots.
"Liliosa that was supposed to be a surprise!" Darren yelled after the little girl, while holding another little one in his arms. She had short brown hair, tanned brown skin, same shining light brown eyes, " Sorry Kal it was supposed to be a little surprise from Lili, Thora, and I, but Lili ran faster than I could grab her.
"It's fine Darren. What did you and Daddy find?" I asked Lili, she handed me an awfully familiar set of books. One was a notebook, the other was the scrapbook I was working on.
"Ahh, I remember these. Especially the notebook. Carried that thing around when I realized I liked your Daddy."
"Kal that notebook is stuffed to the brim." Darren said putting down Thora and walking over to take it from me.
"I know, Kat told me the same thing when she realized what that notebook was for, but girls come closer wanna see aunty Yas when she wakes up?" They eagerly nodded their heads and I started going through the pages to show them.
"No wonder I wasn't getting a response, the four of you have your noses in a book."
"Aunty Yas!" The Lili yelled as the two of them ran towards Yas.
"Sorry. Darren and I got sidetracked. They're dressed and packed for their trip."
"No problem. I got all the time in the world. But come on Lili and Thora say bye to Mommy and Daddy." Our daughters ran over to us and pulled us into a tight hug and we returned it. They ran off after we let them go.
"Don't have too much fun while they're gone. I don't want to see a third child running around just yet."
"Yas, I swear-" I started and she held up her hands in surrender as she picked up Thora and walked to the door where Liliosa was and the three of them left.
"If I didn't know better I would think you were stalking me." Darren said from behind me, I turned around, to see him holding my notebook.
"That bad huh?" I ask with a smile walking closer.
"It's pretty cool, you noticed a lot of things other people hadn't noticed. You really love me huh? And you kept writing in it. The last dated entry is on Thora's birthday." Darren said closing my notebook and handing it back to me.
"Yea. It took me a long time to figure out that I love you. I finally got the courage to ask you out during my senior year. Now thanks to me asking you out, I got you as my husband and we have two daughters together, and I couldn't ask for anything more."
"Yea, but only thanks to me telling you that I was flirting with you, because you're unbelievably slow when it came to your love life. Although you're slow you're my slow dumbass."
"Hmm, it wasn't the lap dance I was dared to do that made you finally tell me that you were flirting with me?"
Darren's face turned red and he cleared his throat, "That was a part of the reason why I ended up telling you, but as I said you're a dumbass."
"Yea, I can be a little slow when it comes to my own love life, but I'm glad everything worked out. I can't imagine my life without you, Darren."
"I can tell especially because of the first entry in your notebook, you know the one explaining how you began to fall in love with me or the one of us kissing in my dorm room when I went to school in Lowell. Your notebook was very detailed on what you wanted to do and where you wanted me to take you." Darren said softly kissing my neck.
"You're a quick reader." I said tilting my head upward.
"That wasn't on the list of things you called me. What did you say oh! You said I had a dorky smile, that I was extremely smart, funny, and charming."
I snorted at the horrible British accent Darren had when he said charming, "That was because I couldn't stop thinking about you, every second, minute, and hour of the day. Every thought, every breath, and everything I did... it belonged to you. I just didn't know to tell you, but I have you now." I say winking up at him.
"I love you." Darren said pulling me closer to his person.
"I love you too." I leaned forward and placed a kiss upon his lips and shut my eyes.
I gasp awake at the vision/dream I just had. Holy shit, that was trippy. I get up and everything starts spinning. I think I'm gonna be sick. I ran to the bathroom and kneeled in front of the toilet. Why do I feel this way? Maybe a cool shower would help?
I stripped and hopped into the cold water feeling the heat disappear from my body began to relax slowly, taking my hair down and out, I let the water run all over me. Maybe I should text him? My dreams are clearly trying to tell me something. It's about time I listened.
I get out of the shower and walk back to my room. I sit on my bed and grab my phone, my finger hovers over Darren's number. I'm just gonna call and ask to hang out so there are no blurred lines or confusion. No more beating around the bush!
