I want to cross into Ronaldo

   "Goalllllllllllllllllllllllllllll!"

   "Cristiano Ronaldo!"

   "Goal!"

"He finally scored his first goal in Serie A! It took 320 minutes!"

"This day belongs to Ronaldo, this day belongs to Juventus!"

"We seem to see the beginning of the legend again!"

  ...

Watching Ronaldo's passionate celebration and the spectacle of the Allianz Arena erupting like a tsunami, David in front of the TV jumped with excitement, his enthusiasm uncontrollable!

This time, the soaring Ronaldo is going to take Serie A by storm.

David may not be a big fan of Ronaldo, but he hopes his legend can continue; that's what you call loyalty.

Well, tonight I think I can get a good night's sleep. It would be even better if I could have a sweet dream.

Tossing and turning, the excitement made it difficult to sleep that night.

   "1 goal, 2 goals, 3 goals... 2046 goals, 2047 goals..."

He didn't know how many goals he had counted before he finally fell asleep, and indeed, he had a dream.

But even in his wildest dreams, he couldn't have imagined the absurdity of it, and even more absurdly, that this dream would turn into reality when he woke up.

  ...

"I'm sorry, this is a mistake on our part. It was due to a temporary mishap. Rest assured, we will take it seriously!"

In the endless darkness, a slightly apologetic voice suddenly appeared in David's mind.

Somehow, David had no idea what the voice was talking about.

He subconsciously wanted to reach out and scratch his head but found that he was now just a conscious entity.

At this point, shouldn't he scream in terror to show respect for the unknown?

David couldn't help thinking this, but before he could act, the voice spoke again.

"To compensate for your loss, we decided to give you a choice. You can decide who you want to become!"

Whoever I want to be, I can become?

Is there such a thing? I didn't study much, don't lie to me!

"Then I want to become God!" David said without hesitation, even though he still didn't understand what was happening.

   "..."

The voice fell into a brief silence, and the air seemed to freeze a little.

"Can you change your request? That's a bit too much!" After a long pause, David actually heard a trace of helplessness in the voice.

   "Then Iron Man."

"We don't have iron here..." The voice seemed even more helpless.

   "How about Superman?"

"We don't have that many capes..."

"Spider-Man? If not, Captain America can do."

   "..."

"Well, if Marvel doesn't work, how about Ultraman? I like fighting monsters!"

   The voice fell silent again.

   "Normal people!"

   "I mean normal humans!"

"What the heck are you talking about!"

Unable to bear it, the voice thundered.

Faced with the outburst of this mysterious entity, David was very calm and at the same time felt disdainful.

If you don't have those options, then don't make it sound like you're omnipotent!

However, in this case, if he could only choose among ordinary humans, who would be the better choice?

Genghis khan?

No, there are too many "Emperor Augustus" now. They always text me about making money.

   A medieval king?

No, being a king is too tiring. Having hundreds of concubines fawning over you every day sounds exhausting!

Speaking of which, I always had a regret in my heart. I love playing football and always dreamed of becoming a professional player one day, to shine on the field.

But the problem is that I have no talent. Not only could I not become a professional player, but even in amateur games, my teammates rejected me!

Now that I have a chance to cross, why not become a player to realize my dream and make up for my regret?

Thinking of this, David made a decision.

"I want to become Ronaldo." Ronaldo should be considered a rich and handsome man in football. For a moment, David could only think of that name.

"Finally, a normal person!" The voice said with excitement, "This can be done! Please wait a moment, I will take you through and make it happen!"

The voice seemed afraid that David would change his mind.

Now David had accepted a new reality: either he was dreaming, or he might really be about to cross over.

Either way, there's no loss; he could accept whatever the outcome.

"Huh? I want to ask, you just said that my crossing was caused by a mishap involving temporary workers. Who was supposed to cross?"

David suddenly thought of a question and asked curiously.

"Well, there is a writer named John Smith who wrote a football novel. He was supposed to cross!"

   "So how is he now?"

"He's stuck in limbo, waiting to be sent somewhere."

Hearing about the unfortunate author's unlucky encounter, David silently expressed sympathy in his heart and was glad he hadn't ended up in limbo himself.

But if I had chosen to become a king, maybe I could have ended up in the same era as this author named John Smith.

   The thought amused him.

"Okay, that's it. I wish you a happy life as Ronaldo."

The sound drifted further and further away, eventually disappearing.

But at this moment, David felt something was wrong.

He forgot to ask, what year is he crossing into?

It wouldn't be so bad if it was earlier, but if he crossed into Ronaldo's nineties, that would be problematic.

Lying in a ward filled with the smell of disinfectant, tubes all over his body, needing oxygen just to speak, he could die any minute. Even if the nurse was sexy, it wouldn't matter...

He could only pray silently that his first crossing wouldn't be so terrible.

As a light spot appeared in the distance of the claustrophobic space, David's body or conscious entity began to fly towards it involuntarily.

He knew that when he passed through this light spot, it might be the end of the journey. By then, he would become Ronaldo, living in a mansion, sleeping, and dying...

"Elena, I'm coming." David couldn't help shouting.

But as soon as the words left his mouth, the voice that had disappeared reappeared.

"Damn, why is it wrong again? Why are there so many temporary workers?" The tone of the voice was anxious and exasperated.

"I'm sorry! I have to tell you some unfortunate news: this crossing might be wrong again! But don't worry, you cross first, and I'll handle the aftermath." Perhaps fearing David's reaction, the voice quickly explained.

At this point, the crossing couldn't be stopped. With the ignorance of life, David crossed the point of light, and the crossing was officially completed.

Before David could see clearly, he heard a slightly magnetic voice across from him—

"The fact is, you were swept away by Barcelona!"
