She crossed her arms as she looked out at the falling snow.

Falling snow...felt like too gentle a word for what transpired outside. There was nothing gentle and relaxed, nothing lazy about the snow that spiraled through the air outside her window.

The blizzard arrived.

As they'd suspected, the blizzard hadn't waited for the next day to arrive, despite what they would have liked.

The sun had barely even set by the time the howling winds arrived and drove people inside into shelter.

She frowned down at the streets. They'd emptied of people by now as the snow piled up. It didn't even seem like there was a soul left outside in the capital.

Even those who needed to travel did so fast, running into the building before they became engulfed.
