Chapter 40: Still Level 1

Axel walked towards the administration counter and saw the figure of a young female officer who was probably several years older than him. The officer seemed busy with the pile of documents in front of him, but as soon as Axel approached, She smiled kindly.

"Good morning. How may I help you?" she asked in a soft but professional voice.

Axel lowered his head slightly, making sure his hat and hoodie still covered his face well. "I want to renew my expired adventurer card," he answered, handing over his old, worn card.

The officer accepted the card and examined it for a moment. "Name and registration number?" she asked as she started typing on her computer.

"Axel, registration number 47392," answered Axel, making sure his voice remained low.

The officer typed for a moment, then nodded. "Okay, I'll process the update. It may take a few minutes," he said. "You can wait here."
