The second base was a bit more successful, we were able to fill the luggage compartment of Tortik with chrome, but it was mostly optics, and other not large-sized chrome. And now we didn't even get to the destination place.

By the way, this time the destination was the port, or rather that part of it where the containers were stored. One of the sections was cut off and now there were just a lot of people there. And Scavengers and Animals... just a sea of targets.

I grinned sadly, if I were in the game, I would be sitting in the shelter now, quietly hacking everyone, then quietly walked through the location knocking out all the enemies. Well, I loved stealth passages. But here to leave alive there is no desire to leave alive. So many intelligent people have already died at the hands of these gangs....

And let partly I can say thanks to the Animals as it is their actions provoked a chain of events that, as it seems to me, became a point in the history of David and the beginning of mine. Except that I realise how many people they kill on a daily basis.

Every night on the news you hear about either bodies being found dismantled for chrome, which is a testament to the work of the Scavengers, or shootings in which the Animals were the instigators.

I'm not an idealist, though....

You can't get rid of Animals and Scavengers, but you can't get rid of them. One newcomer takes the place of one killed, or even more than one. The good thing is that the experienced ones are replaced by untrained bastards. But they're proactive.

- Okay, no access point outside. This isn't civilian infrastructure, so keep your eyes open and give me access at your earliest convenience.

- You got it, Miss Smarty-pants!

- Quiet...

Judy grinned and tapped me lightly on the shoulder.

- 'Come on, get to work. We still have a load to load.

- Yeah.

I nodded my head.

- But we still have to find a place to load, to clear everything....

I sighed and left the cake.

- You're not taking care of me...

- I'll take care of you at home... if Panam lets me.

Judy grinned at me and leaned back in the back seat, covering her eyes and clearly concentrating on the picture that was coming from my optics.

- Panam...

- I'll keep an eye out...

She grinned and sent an air kiss.

- Who are you kissing now? David, or me watching through his optics?

- So you think for yourself, decide for yourself who.....

Panam grinned again.

Turning round I went to a convenient place for penetration, where the residential buildings were close to the high fence. After looking around and making sure that no one was watching me, I pushed off sharply with my legs towards the fence, from which I pushed off towards the wall of the house, then again into the fence and again into the house and the third push towards the fence allowed me to grasp its edge.

I could have been faster, but I didn't want to waste my strength getting to the edge of the fence in one or two jumps. Not that it would take a lot of energy, but I had to be more economical.

My optics told me that the fence was empty, so I calmly pulled myself up so that my eyes were above the edge of the fence and quickly looked around and in one leap threw myself over it, landing softly on the ground. I didn't stay there long and quickly ran to the nearest containers, hiding between them. Unfortunately, the weight of the iron prevented my optics from seeing through, and the maze was a maze, so I walked slowly and carefully.

Still, I almost missed it when five members of the Animal Gang came out to meet me. What the hell are they doing here? There's not much room here....

These thoughts slid through my mind as I activated the sandi and ran towards them.

First knife in the eye socket.

Fuck... it's stuck...

With a little more effort to pull the knife out I pulled it out and threw it at the distant enemy before pulling out a second knife and reaching for the animal closest to me....

Five corpses that I even managed to drag to the very narrow area they were heading into. Just so they wouldn't lie in the more open area.

- Damn... Quiet, with these synthetic muscles, it's getting dangerous to follow everything that happens through your optics....

Judy almost moaned those words, and her image began rubbing her temples in a futile attempt to reduce the migraine.

- Good girl?

- Sandi's short sessions are still okay, but now you've been working... for a long time, almost twenty seconds and all in one... it's too much for me, it's good that I've put a powerful deck, it smoothed out the load as the data passes through it. But next time, be warned.

- Better switch off the picture, the soundtrack shouldn't have to carry such a load.

- Yeah...

Judy's voice was a little sarcastic.

- ...shouldn't. You just haven't worked with brans, you have no idea how much extraneous noise there is even in relatively prepared conditions. And this... no way, I'm putting the comms channel in sleep mode, you can open it if you need to.

- Roger that.

My image nodded and the channel was immediately muted.

- Well... here I am all alone....

I covered my eyes for a few seconds and after activating the sandi, I opened my eyes and took the first step. The first step into hell for my opponents.

Naturally, I didn't keep the sandi switched on all the time, but my brain is surprisingly robust, but even it can't withstand such loads. Judy was twisted from a single use, and even though the sandi itself is rather a complex chromium complex, which not only accelerates, but also removes part of the load from the brain, but even so I didn't want to abuse it....

Two and a half hours later...

- Good girl?

I'm a bit tired, sandi has to be used more often than before, and without it I killed quite a lot, and I just moved a lot and fast. So now I'm sitting next to the access point and resting a bit.

- I'm listening to you, Tycho.

- I'm connected to the hotspot, crack it.

- How much time do I have?

- I've already organised a bloodbath, eliminated forty Scavengers and fifteen Animals....

I pulled wet wipes out of my belt pouch and wiped my gloves, which were covered in a layer of blood that had started to dry.

- Okay, I'm in the system... fuck... fuck... fuck... fuck... fuck...

- What happened? Smarty-pants went pale.

- Looks like she's been looking at the cameras to see what's going on.

My image shrugged.

- What is it?

- Oh, it's just dead bodies...lots of dead bodies....

Judy's image sighed.

- ...Okay, I'm in a resource. No distractions. Looking for data... found it, there's a map of the area and an entrance our contacts can use. Sending them the coordinates. And yes, Tihonja, you've eliminated all the--

I'm relieved.

It was very difficult.

Not physically, but mentally.

- That's good... look after me, I'll relax a bit... relax....

- Get some rest, of course.

- Okay...

I closed my eyes, okay...

- Quiet...

I opened my eyes when Panam touched my shoulder bringing me to my senses. Did I feel better? No. But at least my body was slightly rested and the physical fatigue I was beginning to feel had receded.

- Need some help?

- Yeah.

She nodded a little embarrassed. I caught her gaze and didn't see anything in it... strange, so many corpses in one place, and she was calm. I guess I hadn't quite got to grips with the world yet. David was trained for single elimination, my adult psyche having learnt the knowledge of the guy was prepared to work solo, when it is necessary to kill one, well, five reasonable, well, ten. But I was not ready for such a bloody rampage, which I arranged here. I mean, the actual setting up wasn't that hard, but the aftermath...

- Let's go.

I got up and followed Panam to one of the open containers that contained the hideout.

- And this is all for us...

I grinned and looked at Panam.

- I didn't think about it, but you've checked with the Clan about what they need first, haven't you?

- Of course...

Panam grinned and threw me the list, I activated the scanner in my optic and quickly scanned everything on the racks of the container and quickly ticked off everything on the list and then quickly approached the first item.

- Panam, here you go, an arm for the technician, three pieces....

I handed her the three implants then went ahead and took a few more items and carried them to the entrance.

A couple of minutes and everything that was in this container from the necessary is already in a small pile at its entrance. Good thing it's all hermetically sealed.

- Judy, more containers?

- Five more...

I shook my head and walked to the next one, opening it I continued my work of selecting the right chrome for the Clan. And I needed a lot of it, because after last time, Saul had a whole list of Klan representatives outside of Night City.

- Dude, you should get some rest, we can--

- Scorp, don't talk...

Panam gave her friend a menacing look.

- Panam.

- Scorpio, Panam is right. I don't doubt your abilities, but how much time do we have? And how much of it will you spend trying to find what you need with a simple list of container designations? With my optics, I can scan everything and find what I'm looking for.

- All right.

The third container allowed to sort out the list, after which I looked thoughtfully at the guys and Panam.

- Well, are we carrying all the most expensive things?

- Yeah...

- Right...

I walked round and grinned and took out a couple of sandies which I handed to the men.

- That's the--

- Yeah, the most valuable thing. An opportunity for your clan to form a fighting wing that will be much more effective. In the meantime, take this, then the first container had third-generation kyros...

The whole loading took us about an hour...

- Let's go...

I got into the Tortic and immediately closed my eyes relaxing. The car engine roared and with a squeal of wheels, the three cars sped off leaving the scene.

I answered the call from Regina by machine.

- David.

- Regina...

- Thanks for telling Judy to contact me. My men are on their way to the site and will pick up what they can. Your share will be transferred after the appraisal.

- Yeah.

- How tired are you?

- Morally...very...physically...tolerable.....

- Right, well, I didn't really bother, right after Judy called, assuming you weren't calling, you were busy, but it's been an hour, so I thought I'd call to say thank you.

- You're welcome...

My image smiled, and the line went dead.

- Judy, you're a genius.

- Huh, well I must come up with good ideas too....

The girl's voice was proud.

- What did she do?

When Panam asked, I told her about the conversation with Regina and she laughed and praised Judy's ingenuity.

- Too bad you couldn't just rent out the place and expect to make a profit.....

- Yeah... maybe Regina would have given us something, but it would have been leftovers that would have been thrown off the table.

- Yeah.

The girls were quiet for a while.

- What about now, do you think she won't give us scraps?

- I doubt in such her action... after all the territory was cleared by us, and she understands that once we once got to such a tidbit, the second time is quite possible. So if she ditches us now, she won't be called next time.

- Yeah, yeah, yeah.
