" Did she really just say that dirt golems a E+ rank"
" There's no way I heard that right"
"Doesn't matter how good his craftsmanship is he still a piece of shit mob "
These were the comments I heard from all around as Patricia kept staring at the results screen. A few more seconds went by until a tablet popped out of the purple mana stone and fell in front of me on the desk. It was made out of brick but was much smoother and softer than you'd expect brick to feel like. It also had a black screen in front that showed my lvl and stats. Thankfully it doesn't show your skills and neither did the test. The people around me would of had their minds blown if they found out a dirt golem had stronger magic than they did.
"We..well Mr.golem now your a full fledged adventurer, the quest board is all the way over there"
She's says as she points to the left of us.
" you can accept all quest levels up to your current rank. 20 more quests until you rank up"
" so I only have to complete 20 quests to lvl up?"
" well based on your performance and how subjectively hard the quest was you can be awarded bonus points. Completion speed, amount done rapidly, etc... all play apart in the amount of guild points you get."
The three mages bid me farewell and I go right over to the quest board.
It was a lot more than just what Patricia told me. Based on my knowledge of games and books the way money probably works here is this, 100 coppers equals 1 silver/ 100 silvers equals 1 gold and so on or something (I still have no idea how much value these different types of money hold here) The quests in the E+ rank section do thankfully pay in silvers. I look over to the higher ranks and see different types of money such as gems and names I don't recognize as well as gear and magic items. The highest ranking D+ rank quest is offering 1.1 million gold as well as several types of what I'm assuming is weapons and armor ( this quest board only goes up to D+ rank for some reason ). I look around until I finally find a good one.
Subjugation quest.
Location ~~3 kilometers north of here.
A small camp of around 15 goblins has been spotted near the northern road.
1 ogre
1 goblin mage
~~ 3 hob goblins
~~ 10 low lvl goblins.
Maybe more...
Reward
:4 silvers
- average of one guild point upon completion.
I take the quest scroll down from the wall and speed walk back over to Patricia.
"I'll be taking this one"
" Okay then, all you have to do now is hold your tablet over the quest and store it. After that the quest will be assigned to you. Don't forget to bring back evidence in the form of mana stones and take pictures."
"Okay, wait, and hold on"
" I can take pictures with this thing??"
Of course.
" let me guess I can comunicate via writing or audio with other adventurers as well right??"
" H.. how did you know, didn't you just become an adventurer?"
" Lucky guess"
This things basically a phone...
" Are quests the only thing I can store in this thing."
" Yes, until you reach C rank where you'll be given 3 square meters of space imbedded on your ID where you can store anything you want unless it's something alive"
" Thanks for the info"
" Don't mention it Mr.golem I'm just doing my job"
I quickly turn around to leave and before I get too far Patricia asks,
" Aren't you going to get gear or weapons.. you can't beat a wizard and an ogre empty handed"
" I do have gear, I've this sword see"
My left arm begins to move like sand until the stone sword reaches my palm where I then grab it and show it off to her.
" You can use earth magic!"
"Yes"
"I'd say I'm surprised but I'd be lying. High lvl golems can usually use magic types that correspond with what they're made of just didn't expect a dirt golem to be over lvl 15"
I then hide the sword back into my arm and speed walk out of the guild hall. Once I'm on the street I just go back the way I came running at full speed. I reach the northern side entrance in aboout two minutes. The guards stop me because of how fast I was running as they look at each other in confusion.
" Oh it's you again... what happened.. they run you off haaaa ahh"
" No, I'm currently on my way to kill some goblins"
They all step back clearly not excepting me to speak.
" Well if what your saying is true I need to see some ID"
I remove my ID which I had embedded in my upper chest and gave it to him.
He used the same mana stone as before and it glowed showing that I was indeed a certified adventurer.
" Alright then you can pass"
I then immediately full sprint forward leaving behind a dust cloud trail. I finally reach the area where the goblins were supposedly staying in and start to look around. They can't be that far off so all I have to do is search around here.
After 10 minutes of running around I spot a small wooden tower with an archer goblin on top of it. Thankfully I reacted fast and hid before it could spot me. I do a perimeter search and immediately notice something's off. The quest said 15 goblin but I'm counting 20. There's 6 hobs instead of three and two ogres. This'll be harder than I thought.
I decide use my newly acquired flame magic for the first time and throw a fireball in the direction of the one archer. Once the fireball hit the goblin it roasts it alive and killed it.
Wtf... how the heck is lvl 1 magic that strong.
[[\ thanks to hosts stats the power of the magic was raised significantly. Also since you have a unique type of store bought magic ( explosion magic ) it exponentially increases the power of fire magic /]]
So what lvl was that spell I just cast equivalent to?
[[\ a lvl 3 fireball /]]
While I was conversing with my system the entire camp sprung into action. One of the ogres was more of a grayish green compared to the usual green color goblins are and the other one was dark green. The shaman threw a tiny fireball at me and I didn't dodge... not because I couldn't but because I wanted these monsters to feel fear before they died by my hands ( cool factor and all that ). As the dust settles I dash forwards and within 5 second cut down the 4 goblins sent to investigate the rubble. 16~~ I mumble.
Then I proceed to dash towards the shaman and have to dodge a club swing from the strongest ogre there. I proceed to cast Thorn bush on the rest of the camp and all the little goblins and hobs get lacerated by the quickly tightening thorny vines surrounding them.
I gained a 400 health over heal thanks to them and then cast stone bullets. 20 or so small balls made of rock appeared around me and began to rapidly spin counter clockwise. Then as the smaller dark green ogre rushed at me I unleashed all the bullets towards him at the same time. First 4 hits his head, 5 hit his chest , and by that point he was already dead so the stone bullets changed trajectory and targeted the other ogre. He had a huge ass flat edged stone sword which he used to block some of the bullets. In the end only 5 managed to land and they all hit him on his right arm removing a huge chunk of flesh as the rocks exploded on impact. It was the equivalent of getting hit by a shot gun point blank. He stumbles back as he looks at his damaged sword/ impaired arm and ran towards the shaman. I notice that he's getting ready to fire another spell but I won't let him. I run towards them and jump up. I then use earth magic to pull out my sword and increase its size to 1.8 meters long/ further enhance it with mana and slice down. I stay in the air thanks to the heavy weight of the blade stuck in the ground acting as a stand. That's when I get a system notification
{{ sure strike lvl.1 }}
— infuse a weapon or your body with mana passing something's physical limits to deal extra magical damage of the type of your choosing.
I let go of the swords handle and drop down a little. This things longer than me. Well might as well return to my huge old body since I'm not really all that worried about my speed. I then proceed to use earth magic to grow my body to a size where I could manage my new sword better (2.4 meters ). I then place the enhanced blade on my back and generate a mud sheath that covers the entire blade and holds it in place. This thing must be a little stronger than common iron at this point. I check my stats again expecting to see a drop in speed but it was actually the opposite.
Status
Lvl 37
Type: spirit
Body: dirt golem //MAXED// ( F+ rank core )
Vitality. 180–>210
Strength. 230–> 290
Endurance. 300–> 400
Agility. 210–> 250
Intelligence. 800–> 1,100
Spirit power. 1,400–> 2,200
Woah... this must be thanks to permanence.
Since my smaller form had more agility even though I'm in this larger body my speed remains the same as my previous highest speed. The strength values also increased because I enhanced this new bigger body with mana to its limit, raising my highest maximum strength stat even more.
I look over to the point of impact and notice that the shaman and ogre were reduced to mush. Then I hear a sizzling noise and look over at all the shriveled goblin corpses. Their lower right abdomen was melting and out popped tiny dark green mana stones shaped like crystals as big as pebbles. Out of the hobs there was a slightly bigger rounder lighter green mana stones. The two ogres has A very light green, almost round mana stone drop. And out of the shamans corpse came a dark blue round mana stone a little bigger than a ping pong ball. I store all the mana stones inside my body and proceed to take selfies using my tablet doing poses and gestures over the corpses of all the goblins... hope I don't get points taken off for this.
I then make a beeline for the northern entrance. The faster I get back the quicker I can get paid and start another one. I was faster than I was before and arrived at the gate in less than 10 minutes. The guards actually got into a fighting stance when they saw me. I took out my ID and presented it to them.
" Careful he's all ready killed an.... E+ rank adventurer!!?"
Oh shit... they think I killed someone and took their tag.
" How the hell did a dirt golem take dow...."
"We've seen stranger stuff derrk"
"Get ready" yells the chief.
"STOP! guys... it's me"
They all jolt back after having heard me yell.
" Are you... the dirt golem adventurer by any chance??"
" Guess"
"Oh dear me.... were really sorry about this... please don't report us"
" I won't, I understand why you all got ready to fight. A giant golem you've never seen before with a huge sword on its back was charging at the city gate with incredible speed"
" Oh thank you" He bows slightly.
"Yeah yeah"
I hand over my ID and get verified.
I make my way back to the guild hall, then to Patricia to turn in my results.
" Your back alrea.... what I'm the F$&K.??!"
" How did you get so bi.... where did that sword come from??!"
" I made it"
"And your body?"
" I used earth magic to make it bigger"
" So you've already completed the quest?"
" Yes "
" But that was an E+ rank quest. Th.. those usually take an hour. How the hell did you take down all 15 goblins by yourself?!?"
" actually the info was wrong. There was 20 and are you seriously asking me that"
" Twenty goblins, an ogre and a shaman all by yourself.... incredible"
" No twenty goblins total. In actuality I took down 2 ogres, 1 shaman, 5 hobs, and 12 regular goblins"
Patricia goes silent before saying in a monotone voice,
" Please insert your tablet intro the registry and provide evidence of the quests completion.
I insert the tablet into the machine an as she stares with open eyes at the images I took As I put all 20 mana stones in front of her.
" Wait what kinds of magic did you use?! I don't see any signs of earth magic here so.."
" Fire magic and nature magic"
" No F$@king way!"
" Your just a dirt golem how can you have three kinds of magic?"
" I just.... do?"
"Oh God what are you"
" Just a dirt golem"
She proceeds to exit from her desk ,open a trap door, and descend it. She returns with my payment.
" Sooooo, would you like to sell your mana stones to the guild"
" Do I have to?"
" No not really it's just that you'll have a hard time finding any magic shops around here you can sell them at. Unlike the guild which accepts all types of mana stones no matter the quality the stores around here only accept D+ quality and above"
" luxury goods and all that"
" I ll keep them"
" ok "
After that short conversation I speed walk over to the quest board
" He's already a D rank.... no, higher..." Patricia mumbles to herself.
I notice a D- rank quest that peeks my interest and decide to ask if I can take it.
I walk back over to Patricia and present the quest to her.
" This is a D rank quest"
" I know"
" Uhhhhh... if you die just don't come crying to me"
she allows me to take the quest with less resistance than I was expecting. The scroll dematerializes and is absorbed by my tablet.
I then speed walk out of the guild hall and having learned my lesson about running around town decide to buy a mount.
I wonder if they have anything my size?....
