Chapter 86: Thieves at the Villa (1)

Talon was stationed right outside Lady Clarissa's door, guarding it, at least for the time being.

The butler asked Talon to guard, as there was not enough manpower to replace those who had been on duty. The usual night shift replacements had been knocked out cold by the poison, so there was no one else to take over.

As Talon stood there, the hallway stretched out in front of him, adorned with flickering torches that cast a dim glow on the walls. 

The nocturnal light shone through the windows, creating a tapestry of dark blue shades across the floor, reaching into the shadowy corners of the corridor.

The air seemed heavy, making each breath feel like a task. In the middle of this weird stillness, the only sound Talon could hear was the murmur of voices coming from behind Lady Clarissa's door.
