In the tent, the duo men had stayed quiet all this while listening to the faint noises from their surroundings. 

Both opened and closed their mouths, still not sharing a thing. 

Ashaku calmly took out his handkerchief with trembling hands to wipe the thick layer of sweat on his forehead. 

"Lieu--Lieutenant Harvey, what we feared for has now come to pass." 

"Yeah," Harvey replied, with a heavy voice. 

They thought that even if they said it was a giant worm, with all of their modern-day weapons, the collection of so many people bombarding the monster at once would kill it.

But now, they knew they were naïve. 

Ashaku hasn't taken a single cigarette in 10 years.

Yet, he now had a cigarette in his hands when thinking of the many lives sacrificed during this time. 

He felt their blood was partially on his hands, and the gully was indeed eating him up inside.
