Chapter 117: Self Imposed Constraints

In the dragons' hatchery, hundreds of eggs crammed together in their nests. In each nook, the round oval shapes had different colors. The rainbow of hues culminated with the purple ones. They had such an intense color that one couldn't look away. 

All the dragonesses of the same element laid their eggs in the same nest, taking turns to care for them even after the hatchlings would emerge. Each time when a new generation came out, everyone would rejoice, their high-pitched sounds echoing in the cave and the entire valley.

But the day when he first opened his eyes, no one cheered. There was no celebration that day because a mutt mingled with the purebloods. To make things even worse, instead of a squeal, he howled with his long snout toward the cave's ceiling.
