Chapter 12: Kingsley's Anomaly

One week ago, two hours after the Knockturn Alley explosion.

At this moment, only an extremely intact arc-shaped crater remained at the scene. The personnel from the Ministry of Magic stood together, wearing troubled expressions.

The perimeter was already sealed off by the Ministry's Aurors, with no casual onlookers.

Of course, there were still some people, like journalists, eager to get firsthand information and secure the Prophet Daily headline for the next day.

In the center of the incident, the air seemed to swirl with vitality, and in the next moment, two figures appeared.

One of them, wearing a purple robe with dark skin and a solemn face, was Kingsley Shacklebolt, an Auror from the Ministry of Magic.

The other was tall and thin, with a face full of wrinkles. Silver hair and beard extended to the waist, dressed in a gray-white robe. Behind half-moon-shaped glasses, a pair of bright blue eyes sparkled.

"Dumbledore, sorry to disturb you, but my retrospective charm couldn't restore the situation at the time," Kingsley said.

"Now we only know that an adult and a child came to Knockturn Alley a group of people tried to rob them, and during the fight, someone used the Killing Curse. The person who was attacked suddenly turned into a cat-headed human... Have you found anything?"

Kingsley spoke for a while, then looked up to see Dumbledore's gaze focused in mid-air.

"Hush!" Dumbledore whispered, "Kingsley, calm down. The more anxious you are, the easier it is to miss the truth. Look there, that is the center of the entire arc."

Saying this, Dumbledore drew a wand with many circular nodes in the middle and gently pointed it into the air.

A white light ball appeared in the air, and then the light ball gradually emitted circular waves that expanded outward until it seamlessly fit with the entire arc-shaped ground.

A "sphere" with a diameter of more than ten meters appeared in this space.

Kingsley's pupils flickered anxiously, involuntarily swallowing saliva. "Nothing is left within the range covered by this sphere... My goodness, what kind of spell is this?!"

Dumbledore shook his head. "Sorry, I don't know either."

After that, he flicked his wand, placed the wand tip near his mouth, and blew gently.

"Trace Revealing—"

A large amount of golden mist sprayed out from Dumbledore's wand tip. Soon, this golden mist shrouded the entire space.

Then, the chaotic golden mist began to gradually form various postures, finally restoring the entire scene of Knockturn Alley.

This was the retrospective charm, and the mist it emitted could form scenes from the past.

Unfortunately, due to the magical fluctuations here, even the outstanding Auror Kingsley couldn't restore the past.

Fortunately, he found Dumbledore.

As the mist flowed, two figures, one large and one small, appeared from the entrance of the alley. Although their faces couldn't be seen clearly, Kingsley recognized them as the culprits of this incident.

Soon, seven more figures appeared in the mist, surrounding the large and small figures, as if trying to rob them.

Then, the mist evolved into the first attack by the robbers. In Kingsley's shocked gaze, the man being attacked slapped away the curse with a single palm.

A slap, deflecting a curse?!!

Dumbledore raised his eyebrows slightly, also a bit surprised. This way of countering curses... was a bit unique and excessive.

After that, the man seemed to be saying something to the child while snapping his fingers, warding off many incoming curses...

The retrospective charm continued to recount the events of that time, and Kingsley became more and more shocked as he watched.

Slaps, snapping fingers, being knocked down by curses, the child's magical outburst, and finally transforming into a cat-headed humanoid figure...

As the golden mist interpreted the scenes, Dumbledore and Kingsley quickly saw the man pulling out a "gigantic" wand and lightly tapping the air.

Then, all the mist that composed the current scene began to collapse, finally dissipating suddenly, creating a layer of dazzling golden ripples in the sunlight.

The spell ended!

"Dumbledore, what... exactly is that?" Kingsley asked, somewhat confused and numb.

Dumbledore shook his head with some gravity, "I don't know either; it seems to be ancient magic. That enormous wand is not something modern wizards use."

"Those people from Knockturn Alley said he resisted the Killing Curse. But that wasn't the Killing Curse, right?" Kingsley seemed a bit absent-minded, seeking confirmation from Dumbledore.

The golden mist of the retrospective charm could restore scenes but couldn't reproduce sounds and colors. Therefore, he couldn't confirm if it was the Killing Curse.

He couldn't be sure...

Dumbledore looked at Kingsley, patting his shoulder, "Kingsley, don't deceive yourself. Both you and I know that the trajectory of that person's wand is that of the Killing Curse."

Dumbledore's words broke Kingsley's last stubbornness. His brows furrowed, and he mumbled to himself.

Dumbledore stared at Kingsley, "More than one person can resist the Killing Curse, can't they? This has happened before. Moreover, that person might be a cat; cats have nine lives, right."

To stabilize his old friend's state, Dumbledore even made a small joke, flashing a smile.

At this point, Kingsley realized he had overreacted. Shaking his head, just as a Ministry Auror approached from behind.

"Captain Shacklebolt, there's new information from the Ministry."

Kingsley took a deep breath, composed himself, and then looked at the newcomer, "Speak!"

"This man is the same person who flew over London twelve days ago. After injuring several officials from the Magical Accidents and Catastrophes Department and disarming them, he disappeared."

Kingsley nodded solemnly, then turned to Dumbledore, whispering, "How should we handle this?"

As an Auror serving the Ministry of Magic, Kingsley was also a former member of the Order of the Phoenix. At this moment, he preferred to seek advice from Dumbledore.

"That's your business," Dumbledore's gaze flickered, not providing the answer Kingsley wanted.

Kingsley sighed. If Dumbledore didn't want to get involved, he already had a rough prediction of how things would unfold.

Make a mountain out of a molehill, minimize the issue.

After all, Cornelius Fudge, the current Minister of Magic after the mysterious figure, was more interested in maintaining the magical world's status quo and implementing policies for the benefit of the people.

Regarding the powerful and mysterious suspect, he would likely prefer not to conduct extensive investigations, let alone inform the public.

...

...

Moon didn't expect to devour a whole lamb chop for this meal. Honestly, for a human, this was a bit extravagant. But considering he had slept for a week, it seemed reasonable.

As for Harry, he felt a bit uneasy during this meal. Moon kept glancing at him from time to time, seemingly brewing something in his mind, which made him nervous.

Moon, right now, didn't appear overly refined. He casually groomed his fur, wore a regular shirt, and threw on a wide-necked robe.

Before, Harry saw a crescent moon and a skull symbol on the back of this robe. He thought it might be related to Mr. Lucifer's mentioned pirate past.

However, Harry was still puzzled. Were there still pirates in this day and age?

In any case, the meal ended in his various random thoughts.

Just as Harry was about to tidy up the plates, Moon waved his hand, and all the dishes floated up, landing in the kitchen sink.

"Harry, take a seat," Moon gestured with a wave.

Harry took a deep breath, sat down a bit nervously.

"Considering your excellent performance at work recently, I have some thoughts. I wonder if you'd be interested."

Harry scratched his leg under the table, staring at Moon, "Uncle Moon, tell me. I'm definitely interested."

As long as it didn't involve going back to the Dursleys, he was willing.

Although it was all labor, being scolded when working at the Dursleys, and playing when not working, he couldn't even eat properly.

In Moonlight Castle, it was different. He worked every day, chatted with Mr. Lucifer, and even played with Meteor. It was much more interesting.

By the way, he named that broomstick "Meteor." Their relationship had warmed up quickly during this time, and Harry had become good friends with it.

"Well, that's good. But I have to tell you. Participating in magical research affairs can be very dangerous," Moon smiled.

"Ma...Magical research." Harry didn't react for a while, then showed a troubled expression, "But I... don't know anything."

Moon lightly pinched his cat beard, not minding, "Don't be silly, kid. There will be induction training."

"Induction training?"

Moon nodded, "Yes, learn some magic."

Harry stood up suddenly, his face turning red, shouting loudly, "Willing, I... I... I'm definitely willing!!"

The child got tongue-tied.

But it was no wonder that Harr was very excited. The feeling of powerlessness in Knockturn Alley a week ago had kept him from having a good night's sleep for the past week.

If it weren't for Mr. Lucifer making him a cup of energy potion every day, he might not have been able to bear it long ago.
