I stare out the window at the rundown business as Miles turns the car down the busy city street. "It went surprisingly well, actually."

"I'm glad it did."

"Nobody seemed to be against the idea of us getting married. I find that so odd. I was certain that some of them would have issues with the merge but turns out they didn't. Or maybe they did and just kept it to themselves."

"Well," he shrugs. "It's not in their place to question. Their job is to do as they are told. Good men don't question their leaders, they trust them."

"They are good men," I murmur then smile. "You'll never believe this, turns out Marcus was alive the whole time."

He nods. "I know."

His response shocks me and I scowl. "You know? How would you know that if I didn't?"

"One of our men found him lying in the cabin in a pool of blood after we left then took him to the ER."

"And why didn't you tell me anything?" I ask, anger surging through me.
