Freya was a girl from the countryside. After getting a full scholarship, she managed to attend the best high school in Siyanara City. There she took a lot of effort to adjust to this new environment and Derek was the first person who helped her from the very beginning.
She still remembered that day... when he first appeared in front of her.
(FLASHBACK)
"Who are you?" Freya asked the boy in front of her who had short, curly, blonde hair and captivating blue eyes.
He smiled softly before answering her.
"I'm Derek. But my friends call me deer."
Freya covered her mouth, laughing. Her nervousness faded away without a trace.
"Ha ha ha... What a funny nickname you have!"
"Thanks and... welcome to our class, Freya?!"
Freya's smile vanished when she heard him.
"How do you know my name? Did you stalk me or something?" Saying that she carefully glanced at his sky-blue eyes which shone upon the sunlight like magnetic diamonds.
Derek arched his eyebrow before chuckling. His voice sounded like a Cello, which was soothing to hear.
"Silly, Look at the book you're holding. From looking at the book cover, I got these details easily. You need sharp eyes to do such things."
He raised his chin proudly while saying so.
Freya rolled her eyes.
"You are impressive, Mr Second Sherlock Holmes." Her soft voice was filled with mockery. She didn't stop from there and lowered her head to look at her book before saying, "If it wasn't mine, your guessing wouldn't work, right?"
Derek pressed his lips.
"It's yours. I know it's yours because of several reasons."
"And what are they?" Freya challenged him.
"First of all, you are a new student, aren't you? I know you are because... there's no one I don't know anything about. Simply, I know everyone and everyone knows me ahem, as the school heartthrob though."
Freya couldn't believe that someone could be this narcissistic. At that time, she didn't believe his words NOT because he wasn't handsome. In fact, he was indeed a pretty boy. It's just, she thought that he was exaggerating. Later, she found out he was correct. He was the high school heartthrob. To gain his attention like that, shouldn't she also be a beauty? Actually was she a beauty? NO! Calling her beautiful was too unfair to her as most of the girls, if they dressed up and did good make-up, would become beautiful too. But Freya, whether she was dressed up and did make-up or not, was always a beauty. No, no. She's not simply beautiful. Her palm-sized face and alluring slim body were beyond that.
"The second one, it's related to the first reason. Being a new student makes you unaware of the people here. You can't ask for their notes even before you find your class, right?" Derek continued.
Freya didn't want to argue with him.
"Yes, yes. You are correct. Now can you please let me go?"
Derek raised his eyebrows.
"Am I holding you?"
Freya couldn't help from laughing out loud when she heard him. Just like that they became best friends. Initially, Freya didn't want to interact with boys that much because of her grandmother's teachings.
Her grandma was a traditional woman who taught her to distance herself from boys apart from her cousin brothers. According to her, men, especially European men weren't trustworthy.
Freya couldn't understand what was wrong with European men though. Her granny firmly denied her daughter's marriage to Freya's father who's a French guy. However, her mother ignored it and married Fabien, Freya's father.
Minara, the old lady finally couldn't take it anymore and came to America, hoping to live with her daughter's family. She couldn't bear to part with her. So despite her unwillingness, she still came to the USA.
Freya's mother and father had a very good relationship though. When Freya was born, Minara's love diverted to her beautiful granddaughter who had her mother's wavy, smooth light brown hair and her father's fair skin.
Minara wanted to name her 'Dewi', which meant 'The little goddess.' But Fabien wanted to call her Freya. Nisha, Freya's mother ended their cold war by naming her,
'Freya Dewi Richardson.'
Sure enough, although her granny's sayings weren't correct with Freya's parents, who had a healthy and happy relationship, it did seem right with Freya. Now she finally understood that. After graduation, she would definitely stay away from men and mind her own business by being a rich, young lady. Her family was an average one, neither poor nor wealthy. Thus she decided to study her butt off and create her own future. She was getting closer and closer to achieving her dream until she came from their village to this busy town and met Derek.
He was such a distraction. She swore not to be so stupid again. If it wasn't for the upcoming prom night and her desire for revenge, she wouldn't dare to get involved with such jerks again.
Sighing, Freya took her backpack and headed towards the two floors house, where she was currently staying. It belongs to her aunt. She had two children, a boy and a girl and they treated Freya with love and care. From the start, Freya never met people who were cruel and had dirty hearts. This was why she was deceived by Derek as she thought he would love her as her parents and others did. Somehow she learned a good lesson from his betrayal. She'll never believe others blindly ever again. She was smart after all. If she wasn't, how could she be this calm and rational after witnessing her boyfriend cheating with Leenia, who was the most popular girl in high school, behind her back?

As soon as she entered their mansion, Deena didn't even wait to eat her lunch as she went straight to her brother's room. She hesitated before knocking lightly on his door exactly three times.
"Come in."
She heard his gentle somewhat tired voice. She didn't want to disturb him but she had to inform this matter to him immediately otherwise her friend won't get enough time to adjust to this new relationship although it was a fake one.
Deena slowly approached his desk and sat on his bed.
"What's the matter?" Karson asked, pausing his maths assignment.
"Brother, I found a girlfriend for you!"
