Chapter 3: Chapter 3 Frisson.

This is yet another adventure in my life. There would be new people to deal with, new interactions to start, new staffs to get used to, new rules, and new teachers to get used to.

Gosh! I hated the word new.

Who would have thought that I would change high school? Sometimes, I just wish I had control over some things in my life.

I am in the school secretary's office and while the woman registers my courses, I am filling out some forms requesting my emergency contact information and health records.

"Here is your ID, your class schedule, and your school map," She states passing it to me and I grab them.

These things in my hand just confirmed that I have changed school. So, this wasn't a dream?

When I was done with my form, I handed it over to her but before I left, I suddenly remembered a question that I had been instructed by my dad to ask.

"I hope all my old credits transferred?" I asked.

"Your credits were processed but I don't have detailed information about them. The Guidance counselor will meet with you after school, she'll be able to answer you," She said then I nodded before dashing out of her office.

The next person I met was the principal who welcomed me and told me about the social integration and student life in JK. Also about their extra curriculum activities and sports teams.

Well, everything has been going smoothly and cool until now, when I can't seem to locate my class. "Room 05," was what the map said but even when I have followed the description on it, it kept taking me to school exit.

The students lingering around looked very dismissive so I didn't bother going to ask for help. The annoying part was that I was already ten minutes late for the first class.

I gave my total focus to this map trying to get the description, to the extent that I didn't notice that person in front of me.

I kept walking but suddenly, my body hits something "Ouch," I groaned.

I moved backward and realized it wasn't just anything but a person "Oh, I am very sorry," I said but when I looked up, who I saw made me dumbfounded. It turned out to be the mesmerizing guy that I had met in the garden. He equally looked very surprised.

He was on a black trousers and a white shirt, the same uniform that I had seen the others in. The only difference was that his sleeve was pushed to his elbows and he didn't wear his blazers.

"Uh? You again? You school here?" I uttered the exact word going through my head and the boy in front of me gave me a cheeky smile, one that makes my heart flutter.

"Yes, I do. Is bumping into people a habit?" He asked and I bite my lower lips.

"Sorry. I was just so focused on this. I can't seem to get the room," I stated shaking the map in my hand and he grabbed it from me.

"We're in the same year. Cool. I'm headed there, follow me," He said as he began to walk and as I walk behind him, I can't help but glance at his nice ass.

I notice the people in the hall, who had formerly ignored me, the new helpless girl, now staring my way or more like his way but he doesn't even seem to notice. I guess he must be used to it.

He stops at a room before the exit and I face-palm myself realizing my mistake. Jeez! I had passed here a hundred times yet I hadn't noticed this room.

"Here you go," He states and I am about to enter but pause realizing that he's walking towards the exit.

"Aren't you supposed to be in this class too? You said we're in the same year?" I asked.

"I will pass. It's not like I gain anything from the class. I have something else to do," He stated and with that, he waved then exited.

Now, that's one hell of a guy.

I opened the door and when I dashed in, the teacher who was formerly speaking and the students halted, with their attention now focused on me.

Fun fact: Being the center of attention is what I hated the most.

"You must be the new transfer student. You may have your seat in the free space in the second row," He said gesturing at the place and while keeping my head low, I did so.

I sat down and when I looked beside me, I saw a girl with a brunette hair and a dark red lips. I can't quite see her complete face since she's focused on a book and her hair is covering it.

She suddenly darted her gaze to me realizing probably feeling my stare at her.

"Hi. I'm Camilla." She said smiling.

"Jessica," I reply returning her smile. I shift my gaze to the teacher focusing on what he's saying.

Well, don't be surprised, I am not good at interactions.

.....

I have had three classes and this time, it's club period. I walked in the hall aimlessly since I hadn't heard about any club of my interest.

While walking, I come across the school bulletin board and while scanning it, my eyes come in contact with a book club poster.

Finally!

Since the place where their meeting is usually held is stated on the poster, I use my map to locate it. I enter the English Classroom and bending my head low, I take a seat at the first seat I encounter.

"Oh! The new transfer student, Jessica. Come over here. Don't just stay there. Introduce yourself and tell us the type of book you read," A person, which seemed to be a girl's voice said and I groaned inwardly.

Being a new student is surely suffocating. But wait? How did the person know my name? Was I already getting popular?

I stand up and when I see Camilla, I sigh relieved.

Okay. Not popular. Still a normal new girl besides I haven't done anything to be.

I walk closer to where everyone is sitting then I smile at them "Hello, everyone. I am Jessica Williams, the new transfer student. I saw your flyer on the bulletin board so I was tempted to join. That's the life of a bookworm, isn't it?" I uttered and they chuckled.

"Umm...About my book preference...I enjoy books with the themes of adventure, personal growth, relationships, and social justice. I go better with factual books and my favorite genre is romance. Not to forget, I am a Shakespearean," I said and they all clapped for me complimenting my preference.

Camilla gestured for me to come over, pointing at the free seat beside her and I gladly go there.

She has been pretty nice.

"I already love your vibe. Welcome, Jessica. We're glad you joined us. I am Miss Grace, a librarian and I am the one coordinating this book club." The woman who was standing in the middle of the class said and I smiled at her kind gesture.

"So we were discussing 'Look back in Anger,' by John Osborne which we read last week. Have you read the book?" She asked and I nodded.

"So can you give us a quick summary of the book from your perspective?" She asked gesturing for me to stand up and I did smiling.

Talking about books has always been my favorite.

"Jimmy Porter's anger dominates the play. He operates out of a deep well anger. His anger is directed at those he loves because they refuse to have strong feelings, at a society that did not fulfill promises of opportunity, and at those who smugly assume their places in the social and power structure and who do not care for others. The theme is pervasive, affecting the plot, the characters, and the tone of the entire play. Like many, working-class men, Jimmy feels overlooked by the Establishment, shut out by polite society, and relegated to menial jobs where he is underutilized and underpaid." I said and the students applauded me smiling.

"Wow. That was an awesome summary. Did you just read it?" She asked.

"Nope. I read it a year ago but it's quite a remembrance since it's the first kitchen-sink-drama I read," I stated and she applauded me smiling widely.

"You are awesome,"
