Chapter 136: Heartbeats

Both of them stared into each other a long time. Leo wouldn't have the same look in the next few days, but he's agitated by what's going to happen. Not for him, but for Zella. She's the trapped one, an abused woman who took the fall, unknowingly walking where the river flow would take her. 

She was clueless. An innocent woman who took advantage of her righteous self but still got ensnared to a dupe. If it's not Randall the one who hit her that day, she'd be pretty dead, unrecognized to the crowd, and buried deep in an unknown cemetery with no death plate on it. 

Accidents happen, and Zella isn't one of them. 

She was unexpected. 

When Etienne saw the lovebirds taking too much time on their escape, he picked up a stone and threw it gently in their direction. Zella got out of the daze quickly, knowing that they had to move away from the light and the eyes of a chasing officer.
