Chapter 4: Chapter 4

Hmm...Mary. She was a charmer, dark chocolate skin colour, black charcoal eyes and curvy. She was the shortest among us all but the liveliest too, if that's a word. I liked her, she was good and most of the time I found her easy to talk to. She was dating Dan but when we came this next semester they were no longer dating, if you ask me I don't know. There comes again the point, I am always a third party.

The two sat down and we started making stories. It came to my notice that Brian, my crush, had gotten a job and was working some where in town a certain company I didn't know. 'He never bothered telling me any of that.' I thought and my mind gave me the conclusion again, I am a third party. I accepted it and we went on with our stories. "So guys Valentine's is coming what are you girls getting for me?" Fidel asked. Mary and Tracy laughed. I smiled fakely to show I was among the group stories.

"What do you mean, I thought it the guys who take the girls out for Valentines." Mary commented and I nodded and added, "True so what are you getting us for Valentines?" I asked. Fidel looked at me strangely, with a warm smile and a sweet look and I was wondering what the hell was wrong with this guy. I'm sure he felt pitty for me it was pretty obvious I looked miserable. Wait a minute, I was that obvious to an extent people noticed.

That reminded me of my parents discussion with me during the weekend. They kept asking me what was wrong, I looked stressed all the time and my attitude was always changing. "You are not the same lively Daisy I knew." My mum complained.

"Why don't you guys take me out for Pizza, on Valentine's atleast we celebrate." Fidel said. I shrugged, I didn't have the money so I guess I was out of the issue. "Yeah I think that's a good idea, luckily Valentine's is on terrific Tuesday guys and we can just save the money, fifty fifty and buy the ones on offer that day." Mary said and I wondered if they really were including me in this issue. Tracy looked away, "I won't be in that day, I have a date." She said shyly. 'A date I thought Fidel was your, guy, I guess.' I thought. "Daisy you are in?" Fidel asked expectantly. I looked at Mary and her eyes were wide waiting for an answer. "How much am I supposed to save, like my share?" I asked first just to know and not get myself into something I don't know. "500 shillings only, then I'll give you my share I'm not good at keeping money." Mary said. '500!!' my mind exclaimed.

"I...Uh...Yeah sure that's a deal." I said and Mary clapped up all excited. "So I'm sorted for Valentines?" Fidel asked his eyes fixed on me. I smiled and nodded. "Yeah." I heard Mary say. "Next time, Tracy, don't miss." Mary said and I wondered there was going to be a next time?

"Before we conclude this issue are we all here single?" Fidel asked and I looked at him then Mary then Tracy. At that moment I tried to evaluate myself, am I dating or not? First of all Dylan never calls me unless I call which I do everyday. He never replies my messages with the excuse he's not a message person. Every young person out there my age must be a chatting person. I had totally nothing to prove I was dating Dylan so I think I'm single. "I am single." The words blurted out of my mouth and Fidel's eyes lightened. "Perfect."
