Chapter 29: Into The Wild.

"The ceremony is over. We're going to open the border in a couple of minutes."

Everyone was standing outside the church. They were invited to pray for the prosperity of the new king during the celebration.

"Come on. It's time to get out of here."

Anna ruffled Vincent's hair. They'd finally get away from the kingdom.

Diana turned around and grabbed the bag. She didn't speak, and Vincent asked,

"How come you're so mad?"

"Vincent. Don't disturb her."

Diana was surprised that he was able to pick up on her mood.

"Let's leave."

She said that and moved forward.

Lucy looked back to find Vincent, but he was gone.

"Mom, where are they?"

Anna had talked to Irene beforehand. They were going to leave as soon as the ceremony was over.

"Lucy, they were adventurers. They can't stay in this city forever."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally outside. The border process was fast, and they made it out of the city without raising any flags.

Anna took out a map from her bag. She opened it up and laid it down on the floor.

"The Dwarven Kingdom is about 1000 kilometers from the nearest kingdom. What do you suggest?"

"We go towards the Kingdom of Vasconia first. It would take us around a month to cross the forest. Owing to his condition, we can't afford to waste too much time."

The border of Malen was carved out by a river named Tiber. Next to the river, there was a dense forest named Massimina. Crossing it would be faster, and it was filled with monsters that could help Anna train Vincent.

There were enough supplies for the three of them to survive for 3 months. They could also live off the land.

With their plans in place, they ventured into the forest.

<<Sense>>

As they entered the forest, Diana used some of her mana to scan the surroundings.

A few hours later, she picked up something.

"Goblins."

She was about to cast a spell, but Anna grabbed her hand.

"Let us take care of this."

She looked at Vincent, who was raring to go. He took out his bow and arrow and said,

"Give me their positions."

Most of them were on trees.

"30 of them, all on the trees."

She created around 30 light dots on her palm and said.

"Use mana to sense the position of these dots."

The dots flew towards the trees and stuck to the Goblins. They dimmed as they stuck to the bodies.

He closed his eyes.

<<Freeze>>

He compressed the mana onto the tip of the arrow. After that, he let out some dark element influenced mana into the surrounding.

The mana floated towards the light dots and stuck to them.

"Darkness seeks light."

He took a deep breath in and fired the first shot.

The arrow went flying towards the nearest goblin. It pierced him right through the chest and froze him along with the branch. Due to the sudden increase in weight, the branch broke off and fell along with the goblin. It crashed to the ground and shattered into pieces.

The nearby goblins were alerted. Some of them were archers, and they aimed their arrows towards them. Before any of them could release one, they all met the same fate as the first goblin. Frozen along with the branch and then shattered on the ground.

"20 left."

Now that the archers were gone, the goblins were forced to jump down the trees. Their enemy could kill them from range, so they had to engage in close-ranged combat.

Some had slingshots, some had shortswords, and the rest of them had old and blunt knives. They all charged towards the group as fast as they could.

Vincent placed his bow on the ground and took out his dagger.

<<Water Manipulation>>

A sharp blade of water formed around his dagger.

<<Pursuit>>

A stone was headed towards his way, and he used his dagger to block the attack. He arrived in front of the first goblin, and he used his dagger to cut through his head.

Multiple casting burned through his mana at a faster rate. But he was able to increase the efficiency in mana usage by using his magic weapon. One by one, he continued to slaughter the D-ranked goblins with his dagger, all while his eyes were closed.

<<Ignition>>

One of the Goblins used a spell and attacked Vincent.

He used the mana around him and destroyed the spell midway. All that was left was smoke.

As the smoke cleared, Vincent had disappeared. The goblin looked around, but he didn't find anyone.

<<Water Blade>>

An attack approached the Goblin from behind. Before it could respond, its body was cut in half.

Soon, only corpses and valuables remained. Vincent had killed through the monsters easily.

Diana looked at him and said,

"Impressive. But he wastes too much mana, don't you think?"

"He has so much mana that he doesn't care about using some of it to deal with weaker enemies. Even though his control is top-notch, he has never run out of mana in combat. Now that he can use more of it due to practice, he doesn't hold back."

Anna replied.

"What path do you think he should take?"

Diana asked her.

"I don't know. Madam wants to turn him into a mage, but I think that he loves to fight like a warrior. I was going to train him as a magic swordsman."

"I don't know. His style feels more suited to being a hunter."

"A hunter class hero? Is that even possible?"

Hunter and hero were two different classes. While you could train in both, you would be hindering the progress of a better profession.

"Maybe. Maybe not."

Diana was aware of his hunter lineage. She thought that it would be better to develop him as a hero through a profession that he was familiar with.

Anna looked at Vincent. He was busy examining the weapons and belongings of the monsters.

"We'll see. For now, let's focus on finding a safe clearing. Traveling through the night might attract more monsters"
